bastmom Posted June 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2009 OK, silly question, but do you get free drinks in the casino while you are gambling?
cb at sea Posted June 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Nope! This isn't Vegas! They have no incentive to entice you to stay in their casino, as you have no other options! The only time you might get a "free" drink is if you are a VERY high roller....and gamble thousands of dollars--(and then, that drink becomes pretty costly!!) cruzendude Posted June 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Generally speaking....no, though some have posted they get a freebie every now and again but after LOTS of playing.......
BaumD Posted June 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2009 It ain't Vegas.....The answer is no....unless you are on one of the all-inclusive cruise lines (like Silverseas)
gxchan Posted June 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2009 They were running some promotion and I won a martini when playing blackjack. Otherwise we had to pay.

yogimax Posted June 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2009 I think there was one time when they came around with drinks during what was the captain's coctail party
negn Posted June 3, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2009 On Princess I got a couple of free drinks the last couple of nights while playing the slots. I used my card so they probably tracked the playing. But usually few and far between
geojobes Posted June 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Only free drink I ever got was on Princess in the casino. They were giving away Mimosas or Bloody Marys in the morning on one of the at sea days. You had to go in before 11 am. Now (after September 1) no free drinks at the Captain's Party on RCCL, even. Oh well, I got one cruise booked on RCCL in October, I'll have to think about future cruises. That fact in and of itself won't make me not book with RCCL, but you add up some of the other stuff & I don't know. Sorry for the editorial, I know that's not the question asked. bastmom Posted June 4, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted June 4, 2009 I'm definitely not a high roller...can't justify buying a $1000 drink in the casino :-) Just curious, what's "Club Royale"? Beardedladies - were there any particular nights that they had happy hour or was it just a random thing?

macd4 Posted June 4, 2009 #13 Share Posted June 4, 2009 On my last cruise, on one night there was a special: if you bought a martini, you got a match-play coupon. $8 for the drink, then $5 back to gamble with.

earl_m Posted June 4, 2009 #16 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Why should they give you free drinks, there is no where elseto gamble .
bastmom Posted June 4, 2009 Author #17 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Why should they give you free drinks, there is no where elseto gamble . Never figured the drinks were free so you wouldn't go somewhere else but to get you loose and keep you gambling. Nothing like impaired judgment to really get you spending some money... beany Posted June 5, 2009 #18 Share Posted June 5, 2009 If you are a member of "Club Royale" drinks are free in the casino. Is that the equivalent of a players club? How do youbecome a member? Thanks
wolfganghowell Posted June 5, 2009 #19 Share Posted June 5, 2009 You have to be invited by the casino manager to join. Pretty high rolling - you have to play minimum $30 per hand on average 2 hours a day. Slots you have to do the $5 dollar machines. I could be a little off on these numbers. As for free drinks, on a couple of cruises when we were in there every night (usually it was the same people at the table) probably about 3 times the casino manager bought the table a round of drinks. In all instances, the same people were there consistently, everyone was happy and friendly and everyone had consistently tipped the dealers on big wins. I think it was the manager's way of thanking everyone for being so professional to the staff. We've also lassoed quite a few Casino High Roller shirts but that's from teasing and torturing (like wearing a Celebrity shirt on Royal and then telling the Royal manager "Well, X gave us a tshirt). Nothing like some good natured competition! :D

retnuh281 Posted June 5, 2009 #21 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Last cruise on Voyager got A free drink two nights in a row. I attribute that to being nice, having fun, tipping the staff, and again, having fun without being drunk and obnoxious. OK, maybe just not obnoxious.
