Houston flight

I am looking at booking our flight out of Houston at 1:55 the day we get into galveston . Is this enough time to get to the airport?

If you carry your own luggage off you will get off the ship quicker and would be a more "safe" option. That's what I would do if it were me. Remember, pack light, lol.

Houston Intercontinental airport is 70 miles from Galveston. The highway (I45 and US59) goes through the center of Houston and the mixmaster highway system there. Travel time can be anywhere from a little over an hour to several hours depending on the traffic including accidents and construction. Like all major cities the highways are always under construction of some type.

 

IAH is a huge airport with multiple terminal buildings that are interconnected with walkways and trains. Once you check in, it could be a bit of a walk to your gate.

 

This is all assuming that you are flying out of Houston Intercontinental on the far north side of Houston and not Houston Hobby which is located just south of the downtown area and much closer to Galveston.

If the stars are in perfect lines yes, if you run into a problem or two probably still make it, a few minor problems which will crop up when you need them not to happen,, then you are looking at missing your flight.

 

Personally I would book later flight get there early and ask about hopping on the earlier flight. More likley to get home early than catch a later flight if you miss your flight earlier in the day. As Sunday goes along the airport gets more crowded as those from Houston shuttle off to where they have meetings or other activities on Monday morning.

i agree with the above comment and would book a later flight for the peace of mind as well... there's just too many things that could go wrong on the way - including the potential for a customs screening of the ship / crew, which could delay you debarking 1-2 hrs...

Please remember there are times of the year where there is the possibility of sea fog. It could delay your ship's return to port and the debarkation of guests. In fact, the same thing may happen to the cruise before yours which will delay your embarkation.

txskier is correct. And sometimes in late fall too.

 

The way I understand it, when cool or cold fronts get down here and butt up against the warmer Gulf air... fog happens.

 

Our coldest time of the year is usually January and February when a "Blue Norther" blows through. They usually pack a bit of rain when they first get here.

 

Also... you need to know our four seasons down here are GREEN, BROWN, AIR CONDITIONING ON, AIR CONDITIONING OFF.
