margord Posted June 22, 2009 #153 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Hi Folks, The good folks of Cobh did us proud, first they organised a heat wave, blue skies and a hot sun. Next there was a town party, bands etc, street fare thousands of folks flooded the town. Excellant sail away quay side lined etc the way it should be little boats following us captain giving extra blasts on ships horn. Its such a pity that most days ships dock in container ports, those staying on for Greenock will have another nice sail away to look forward to. Trains were running every 30 minutes just for us, saw posters in town telling them we were coming, well done town council. Over all a great port of call. yours Shogun Sounds like a great day. Shogun Posted June 22, 2009 Author #154 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Hi Folks, Not sure who the sun god is but Crown Princess must be paying him a lot, everwhere we go the sun follows us, great sea day in the channel, calm seas clear blue skies and hot . Went to Crown Grill last night still the best food, was offered 4 extra lobster tails, where else would you get this. Dinning room food is OK not outstanding, some nights better than others but overall veg is to cool by the time it gets to the table. Menus have been a good mix, but a fair bit of sea food so if you do not like fish not the best selection of things for you. Went to CC meeting today PSD was there again did questions and answers. Got invited to Captains Circle Lunch about may be 60 folk, each table had an officer, very nice meal to much food for mid day so not doing formal to night. Got photo etc. Ship still very quite overall, yours Shogun

RUBYRUBY Posted June 24, 2009 #169 Share Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks to both Shogun for generously taking his time while on the ship to give us his updates and to David for those ship tracking photos. It is really much appeciated. My parents are on the ship but not tech savy so this has been the only way to get info from their trip until they get home. Many thanks and all the best Ant

Shogun Posted June 25, 2009 Author #174 Share Posted June 25, 2009 Hi All, The fire as I understand it, lady was smoking and used to put cigs out on a paper knapkin and put in waste basket, damage was to the cabin desk, she was still able to use cabin until she left ship. Cabins, obstructed view E407 etc you see nothing massive white metal box takes up whole of window, E405 part you can still straight out and to left but not right, E403 fine view but can not look up as I think life boat above. C237 do not take it sounds like you are in the engine room coins used too move along desk there was so much vibration coming through this cabin. Food, Well folks an important part of the cruise and the Crown has some issues that they know about. The head chef is on holiday , so cover being provided, now I met the chef and he seems a nice bloke and a good chef , but he is in charge of loads of chefs and me thinks he is not so good at that, however he might get better with time, so whats wrong with the food for my part the main it be it fish meat etc will be warm and may be if you are lucky hot, but the veg etc will be cool to darn right cold. Crown grill is the best, loads of food well cooked and cooked the way you asked for, loads of free extras you order one thing and they bring it to you then they come back and offer you a sample of this a bit of that, after three or four hours yes one night we just did not want to leave it was such a great evening. Cafe carbi never used apart from an 1pm visit and is was full good range on offer and hot, only ate in Horizon once no problems but I did hear a few folk say they thought food could have been hotter. Room service fast food hot no problems. Burger bar excellant service cooked as you wanted and tasted fine. International Cafe the best place for breakfast lunch and a snack, ate there every day at some point. Vines was a nice place to meet friends for a glass of wine before going for dinner. And, nothing worse than a "moron" who thinks they can smoke without any regard for the people around them or the hazards they impose on everyone by putting out their "weapon" on paper!!!
