Yeah for Princess.

Glad to see that Princess is not reinstating the Fuel Surcharge now even though they reserve the right to. Just read their statement on their home page and I'm happy to know that we will not get any surprise "fuel surcharges" applied to our stateroom next week during our cruise. I hope they continue to have this attitude and show respect for the recovering economy throughout the rest of the year. Happy and safe cruising!

Here is the info from Princess's web site. I am very glad to see this as well

At the time we suspended fuel supplements we reserved the right to reinstate them if the price of light sweet crude oil, according to the NYMEX, should increase above $70 per barrel. While we have now exceeded that threshold, in light of the economic crisis and resulting consumer weakness, we presently have no plans to institute a fuel supplement. We will continue to monitor the situation in the markets and review our position as the situation warrants.

Now is not the time for any types of price increases - not in this economy.

Yes, this is a great business move with many positive ramifications down the road. I am glad to see this and hope it holds . We will be cruising in early July with friends who have never cruised or never on Princess. We were on HAL last December and missed the surcharge lift BY ONE DAY! (We wrote numerous letters and received the perfunctory form letter in return)They would not even consider pro rating our surcharges........... went back to Princess- of course, no cruise line is perfect, but it sure did not leave us with positive thoughts

Princess gets a gold star!!!!!

First it was free lemonade then free ice cream and now no fuel surcharge. It doesn't get much better!! While Princess is making all these great decisions maybe the next move will be better coffee.

Carnival's CEO, in his wisdom :p, decided to not implement the option "at this time" because of the overall economy and a slow down in bookings.

Princess, as a subsidiary of Carnival, is simply following Big Brother's orders.

And of course they would since Carnival Corp (Mickey Arison decision) buys all the fuel for all their north american brands including princess.

From a relative now on the Crown: "it appears that they have upgraded the coffee and it is actually drinkable."
