    • Leave the ship ASAP, whether or not your luggage tag # has been called.

Depends on the circumstance, if i have an earlier flight, i self disembark, If i have no where to go except home, i will wait for my number to be called, If i have a low munber and friends have high number, i will wait on the ship with them until their number is called.

We cruise with a Service Dog and try to get her off the ship ASAP. (It always amazes me how people's attitudes and demeanor change on debarkation morning!) :o I guess they're as sad as we are to leave our floating hotel.

Only once on the Carnival Elation did we have a problem. Some folks in the line in front of us would NOT move over allowing us to take our dog off. It was very bazaar.

Now, we go the Purser's desk the night prior to debarking and have an escort take us off!

I don't mind staying on as long as we can but the hoards of folks, tugging on their luggage and dragging their bags, without any regard for the humans [or dogs] around them...is way too much for anyone to bear, let alone a wonderfully behaved Service Dog!!!!!!! :(

There is no way on the last day of my cruise, that I'm ruining it with waking up early, and waiting in hordes of lines to debark.

Been there long ago, will never do it again.

When planning a cruise, I never, ever book an early flight no matter what.

If I have to stay an extra day, so be it - it's an extra port and vacation day.

I've already made friends with my cabin steward throughout the cruise. They know on the last day that they can leave me alone, let me sleep in as long as possible; then just wake me up when they've done everything else, cleaned the other cabins, and are ready to do mine last.

I wake up, ready to go, maybe have some leisurely breakfast...

Then stroll off at the end of all the lines.

Takes about 5 minutes to debark at that point.

It's the nicest, most relaxing way to end a cruise.

Taking my time, with a good night's sleep, and a huge smile on my face, knowing that I didn't have to wait in line for a long time with any rude pushy people.:D

We like to get up a little late, have a leisurely breakfast and then go up on the Lido with our tea, watching all the grumpy people standing in line and banging each other with all their bags. Once the lines have thinned, we stroll off with our one carry-on and grab our bags from the nearly-empty room. Just makes our vacation last a little longer.:)

I might have guessed a higher percentage for self assist asap. It seems like on the cruises we go on there are tons of people lining halls and stairways dying to get off early.

As much as I would like to stay on the ship for as long as I could..... I had rather get off fast before it gets crowded. Our last cruise (first cruise) our flight was leaving out of New Olreans kinda early and we went to get there to get checked in. Our next cruise (129 days) our flight also leaves kinda early from Orlando.

Good Poll!!! :)

I always have a later flight, so I book an excursion with a transfer to the airport. This means that I don't get a choice of when to leave. Usually we are off pretty quickly. I would prefer to sleep in.

I didn't see the "option" of - "leave the ship...WHEN my luggage tag is called...whatever that happens to be...early or late." I tend to try and work with the system...and do what I'm supposed to do!

This is a typical reaction I often have with the CC Polls...I usually have a thought or opinion on the question...but my answer isn't an available option to choose!

After one experience using regular debarkation (OK), one using self-assist (nightmare), and one VIP (excellent), I have decided that from now on, I will let Carnival take my bags out, and I will have a relaxing breakfast in the dining room, while people cram into the halls.:D

That's because most folks make their own rules......And, don't understand why we're not following them!

My last cruise I went with my MIL. I can't remember the number we had to disembark (I think it was early to middle) but since we were being picked up by a late riser, I just went down to the Purser's desk and ask for a later number. They gave me the last one, which was just fine with me.

I like to have one last breakfast in the dining room, to back to my cabin to brush teeth and gather our carry-ons, then go watch all the people in a hurry to leave.

Speaking of debarkation... First let me say I will be a first time cruiser in December on the Destiny. The port of call is Miami but we are looking to fly in and out of Ft. Lauderdale bc it is much less expensive. My question is, can we make a 10:50 am flight leaving Ft Lauderdale if the the ship arrives in Miami at 8am or will that be cutting it too close? I have noooo idea how debarkation even works so any advice is welcome. I know this isnt an answer to the original thread but I thought I might get some answers here. Please help!

well, if your FLIGHT LEAVES at 1050...they recommend being @ airport 2 hours early...which is 850. 50 mins after the ship is "supposed" to dock. The ship will not dock then immediately dump folks off, customs needs to be cleared first, that takes time. Not to mention the 40 minute drive .....

way too close, imo.

The Earliest flight I'd take out of there is 2pm. at the ABSOLUTE earliest.
