JLT Posted June 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Hello Everyone, Our cruise stops for the day in San Pedro at the WCC. Other than going into Los Angeles, what might be interesting to see and do in the area? Thanks for any suggestions.
andreadan Posted June 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2009 Sorry for a delayed response and one without much substance, but having little time tonight, I'll direct you to visit sanpedro.com for an overview.
Splinter Posted June 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2009 If you want to stay close to the cruise port (San Pedro), then right in that area you can visit both the Los Angeles Maritime Museum and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and perhaps have lunch at Ports 'o Call Village. You can also visit the Lane Victory (last of the WWII Victory ships) at the next pier north from the cruise ship pier. A little further (about a 10 mile cab ride) in Long Beach would be the Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Village, and The Pike. You could also throw in a tour of the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Maryandi Posted June 25, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2009 I looked on the SanPedro website and they mentioned at the 22nd St. Landing or Pier, Whale Watching starting Jan. 1 for $15 adults. I have not contacted the company to get more details yet. Does anyone have any 1st hand experience with that ? MaryAnn
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2009 When are you going to be here and for what length of time?
mistyflannigan Posted June 28, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2009 There is a nice art deco theater, the Warner Grand, on 6th St. in San Pedro. If you are stopping on a weekend, they will probably have something worth your time, such as live concerts.
critterchick Posted June 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2009 You could take a cab to the Wayfarer's Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, about 15-20 minutes from the port. It's a gorgeous place with amazing views, designed by Lloyd Wright, Frank's son. http://www.wayfarerschapel.org/
