Another Sanctuary Questions

I would like to book the sanctuary for my entire cruise for my husband. That way he can go whenever he wants. (Needs to destress). My question is this. If he is not wanting to use this on any particular day, can my 19 year old daughter go in his place, or is the "pass" person specific.

Good question.

I don't use it so I don't know how they are issued.

Interesting question ... when you reserve for the whole week, you pick your lounger and it is held for you for the week .... so, logic would dictate that she should be able to use it in your husband's stead ... but check with the Serenity Attendant when signing up. However, they may not be able to give you a definitive answer and may need to ask their supervisor.

We had received the Ultimate Balcony Breakfast as a gift on the Emerald, but we had booked a window cabin. I asked a Serenity Attendant if we could have the UBB in the Sanctuary one morning. The first response was "No, sorry." But then the next day, the attendant reported back that Yes, in fact, they could! So we had our UBB delivered up there one morning and it was swell. They really try to go the extra distance for you. I didn't push the issue, but the attendant took it upon herself to take the question to her supervisor. So just ask nicely and see what happens.

If we only book in the morning for the half day, can we choose our lounger? I see there are some regular chairs and I wouldn't want to end up with one of those. Also, my husband likes sun and I like shade. Would we be able to be next to each other and have both?

No, you cannot do it, at least from what I saw. One the first day that you start the package, you have to show your receipt. It has your room card number and your name on it.

On the next day, they may ask to see the receipt again if they haven't memorized your name and your chaise location.

In our case by the second day, they knew us by name and chaise location. As we laid there, we saw many people escorted out of the area.

I guess you can try to get special permission to let her use the chaise. I thought about asking if my 16 yr. old son could use mine when I wasn't using it, but I decided not to ask after seeing so many of the rules strictly adhered to.

p.s. - To answer your other question, it would be hard to have him in the shade and you in the sun (or vice versa) because of the way it's set up.

The shady part is in one section and the sunny section is in another, separated by a walkway where there are no chaises. This is the case for both sides above the front part of the swim-against-the-current pool.

I don't think he would have been able to, anyway -- isn't a key point of the Sanctuary that it's adult only? Well, besides the other key point of having a reserved chair away from the Cochon de Chaise. Hmm, I wonder if they would even consider a 19-year-old to be an adult in this context?

Thank you so much for taking the time to address my question. I guess we'll just stick with the MUTS area, as it has accomodated both of us well.

And to answer the first part of your question, you always choose your lounger. You don't just get "access" to the sanctuary, you get assigned a lounger. Someone will escort you to it when you get there. I think the chairs are for people to sit around and talk. I don't think anyone get assigned to those. That would stink! :p

Yes, that would stink, wouldn't it. Thanks so much for answering my question.

How much does the pass cost for a 14 day cruise?

In Febuary on the Emerald, it was $15/per day for the full cruise. You picked "your" lounger for the entire cruise, everyday, all day. From what I have read, they only allow a few full cruise packages, so you'll want to get up there upon embarkation and sign up early.
