Regarding Bus 76. How often does it run and at what time in the morning would be the first time it gets by Frihamnen port?

How often does the ferry run (the one that goes with the all day bus ticket) from Dej. to Gamla Stan?

I'm so sorry to say that regarding the above bus 76 schedule I don't understand any of the words (stops??). What is the word I am looking for (on the left) regarding the stop close/near to Frihamnen port? All these words are very unknown to my American knowledge of Sweden.

 

I don't know about the ferry either. I see the word Djurg..... but not sure which one I am using. Thanks...but if anyone can just give me the answer I'd be so grateful.

For those of you that have already cruised, do you need your passport to disembark in Sweden? For that matter, other than St. Petersburg, do you need it anywhere?

First, it should have been easier to give answer if you should have mentioned date and time interval.

Ok, that table showed only the times for the four major stops along the route Ropsten (start) Kungsträdgården, Slussen, Ljusteögatan (end station ). The full list of all stops were on page 5.

 

Anyway, there seems to to be lists on the Net for all individual stops as well (I wasnt aware of that yesterday). Here is the one for bus 76 stop Frihamnen towards downtown:

So first bus passes Frihamnen at 6:38 Monday to Friday (Måndag-Fredag), then 6:58, 7:18, 7.34 and so on. First bus on Saturday (Lördag) passes at 9:06 and there is no traffic on Sunday.

 

I don't know about the ferry either. I see the word Djurg..... but not sure which one I am using. Thanks...but if anyone can just give me the answer I'd be so grateful.

 

I admit that table is messy. Ignore everything on the second page. On the left side of the first page are the tables From (Från) Djurgården to (till) Slussen .

Monday to Friday (Måndag till Fredag), Saturday (Lördag), Sunday and Holiday (Sön- och Helgdag). Traveltime Djurgården Slussen some 7-8 minutes.

We were in S'holm a few days ago on Eclipse at S167. You can buy HOHO boat and bus tickets in the shop by the dock (you have to go out by it). You can buy a combined HOHO ticket and Vasa ticket for 180SEK... this saves queuing at the HOHO boat booth in 5 mins time. Walk out across the zebra crossing and turn left...just follow the signs to the boats. They start at 8.30. Walk past the booth if you have got your ticket (where about 20 people are lined up!) When you get there, tell the guys where you want to go (Vasa or Gamla Stan) and they will put you on the right boat. They run the first few boats just to those places to get the cruisers going, before they start the normal 'round the harbour' trip.

Yes indeed, thanks for coming back and posting that info. We locals can't get behind the security gates anymore so your inside info is very valuable.

We will be in Stockholm for the day on 13th July. I understand that Queen Victoria will be on a mooring buoy because there are so many ships in dock that day. The buoy is called BOJ1 FORTOJNING-PA. We will be tendering ashore - does anyone know where we land? I assume it will be on Gamla Stan somewhere but would like to have a better idea of where so that we can plan our day.

Personally I paid in SEK as we had brought some with us specifically for the boat, as it was a bit up in the air from discussions on here whether you could use a CC. You can use a CC in the shop by the exit gate, but I don't know about the booth by the HOHO dock. When I get home next week I'll post a few pictures so it will all become clear....I hope!

 

Yes AF, we had a great time ...and it was 28C! A bit too hot for sightseeing. Currently we are in Tallinn and it is still that hot. Copenhagen on Wednesday.

I'd love to see Stockholm, but the idea of visiting smaller rural villages in Sweden is appealing too. Is it possible to not see Stockholm this time and just do a tour right out of Nynashamn, or even rent a car and tour some smaller towns?:rolleyes:

 

Another question: I have Celiac's disease so must eat a gluten free diet, do restaurants cater to gluten free in Sweden? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Need advise, I am little confused on riding the HOHO boat, our ship docks at STADSGÅRDEN pier and my research indicated that it is best to ride the HOHO boat to the Vasa stop and then back across to Gamla.

 

Question;

- Is it better to just buy a one way ticket since i will only be using it twice?

- Is there only one ticket price?

- I assume I can use CC?

- Must I buy a HOHO ticket per say?

First, thank you, thank you to the locals who post here!!! I just finished reading all 29 pages, and I cut and pasted a ton of great info that I need to sort through.

 

I have two questions that weren't answered as they are very specific to our situation. We debark at Frihamnen on a Sunday. We want to go straight to our hotel to drop off our bags, before heading out for the day.

 

We are staying at the

Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen

Rålambshovsleden 50

Stockholm, 112 35 Sweden

 

From their web site, these are the closest public transportation stops:

Bus Station

Mariebergsgatan (0.1 miles E)

 

Subway Station

Fridhemsplan (0.2 miles W)

Thorildsplan (0.2 miles E)

 

Train Station

Stockholm central train station (1.9 miles E)

 

Would anyone have any advice on what is the easiest way to get there? And it will be pretty early on Sunday morning. We will have 1 large rolling suitcase each, and would prefer a cheaper solution than cabs if possible.

 

 

My second question are for recommendations for that night.

1- Dinner. Moderately priced. We live in Boston, so that would mean to us $15-25 USD per entree. (112-187 kroner ~ I know Stockholm is pricey, so if it's more, that's fine. We just don't need a super-fancy special occasion place.) We would definitely prefer a place that is a favorite of locals.

 

2- Any night-life? I know it will be a Sunday, but a fun bar to get a few drinks. Nothing too fancy or touristy. Also, info on a safe way to get back to our hotel after would appreciated.

Sorry to tell you but NCL docks at Nynäshamn and calls it Stockholm. You will have to tender in to the dock and then you are still an hour away from downtown by train/bus.

 

You can't get HOHO from Nynäshamn. I suggest doing a search of this forum on "Nynäshamn", you will find reams of info.

If you arrive at "Stadsgårdskajen" with the ship ( I have seen Emerald Princess there a lot of times this summer) you can take the hop on hop off boat from there to "Djurgården". Djurgården is an island there you find booth Vasa Museum and Skansen. It is only about a 10 minutes walk between them. After that you can take the hop on hop off boat to Gamla Stan and then back to the ship. Plan more time for Skansen than for Vasamusem is my advice. It is realistic to see this 3 things in one day, but it depends how much time you will spend on every place.

I think The boatticket for one day cost about 10 euro. But I´m not shure.

It could be good to have some swedish money with you. In a lot of places you can pay with credit card, but some money is good to have.

 

is it one ticket for the hop on bus and hop on boat. or do we need to buy 2 diff ones...where can i get that??

 

and one last thing since ur so helpful..how far is all this from the ice bar. Id love to see the ice bar but ppl keep saying i need a reservation, just trying to plan my day to figure out what time to reserve.

 

is there anything beyond Gamla Stan, Skansen, Vasa, and Ice Bar you'd recommend, and do u think i can do all this in one day 9 to 5???

 

AGAIN WHATS THE BEST WAY TO COMMUTE FOR ALL THIS. is it simple, id rather not to an excursion if i dont have to

We just returned from this cruise on Princess Star- we wavered back & forth about transportation in Stockholm before we went. Finally, took some good advice: we caught a cab with another couple from the dock to Vasa- it cost $10 TOTAL for 4 people in American dollars, and was the fastest way to get to Vasa. We were sightseeing before Princess buses got there. Then we walked all the way back, seeing the waterfront, the Royal Palace from the outside, Gamla Stan shops, and back to the boat. We were in port only 10:00 -5:00, so pressed for time. The walk from Vasa through the city was about 2 1/2 miles. Hope this helps in your planning.

The Vasa Museum is truly one of the 'can't miss' places in all of Europe. Even if you are not museum people, as we are really not, we went there to take a few pix, see what was there to see and move on, and we ended up being there for over 2 hours. The Vasa is remarkable experience and definitely not to be missed. You should do the movie when you go in, either in English or with sub titles, and then roam around on your own or go with one of the escorted tours.

Just remember, the lighting in Vasa is very very low and pix taking is very tricky.

We will be vacationing in Stockholm at the same time as our friends are arriving on a cruise ship for the day. We would like to pick them up from the ship dock (Stadesgarden 167) in our rental car. Does anyone know if we can drive up to the passenger area to pick them up or do we have to park somewhere and walk up to greet them?

 

Any suggestions on how to do this and where to meet would be much appreciated!
