GSPLover Posted July 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2009 We will be arriving in Venice at 6:45 pm and are staying in Piazzale Roma. We are looking for an inexpensive restaurant (pizza?) close to our hotel. Any recommendations?:D Hard to answer not knowing exactly where you will be staying. Suggest the following: (a) Ask the desk clerk at your hotel for recommendations (b) Just head out and walk towards S. Marco. You will pass many small restaurants. All restaurants must post their menus and prices. © If it's dinner hour (7pm+) and the place is busy, and the prices look good, go for it. It is probably pretty good! Sea Day Cruiser Posted July 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2009 There are restaurants in the area but I don't remember any names. We just walked around until we found one that looked interesting. The first night we didn't know about the Italian practice of charging a cover if you sit inside at a table. I think that almost doubled the cost of our dinner. It was around 5 Euros each. We learned from that mistake and never went there again. The next night we ate at an outside pizza place right on a canal. It wasn't on the Grand Canal and I don't remember the name. It had table outside with red and white striped umbrellas over them. The food was very good and reasonable and you didn't have to order pizza. They had other things too. I'm sorry I can't remember names, but I can tell you that there are several places to eat in the area.
CruzinNoony Posted July 14, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted July 14, 2009 Thanks for the info. We are staying at the Santa Chiara in Piazza Roma. I'm glad to know of the extra charge for an inside table.:)
