Quick Lunch on Las Ramblas

We're arriving in Barcelona at 1 pm and want to get in as much sightseeing as possible. I'd like to grab a quick lunch on Las Ramblas right after we drop our luggage off at the hotel.

 

Can anyone recommend a spot for a quick lunch? (We already have tapas and paella planned for dinner.)

Step into La Boqueria (about halfway down Las Ramblas); you can have lunch and experience this great market at the same time. There are food counters along the side where you can order various food items or just pick up some salamis, bread, cheeses, and make your own. Excellent fresh fruit as well.

The suggestion for La Boqueria is a great one. You can buy whatever looks good - cheese, sausage, fruits, fresh breads, pastries, juices - and turn your lunch into a touring experience as you try the different foods. There are hot, cooked foods available as well if you'd rather not eat "picnic style".

 

Otherwise, there are tons of restaurants along Las Ramblas, mostly touristy with great outdoor seating for people watching, but high prices and only average food. Food ranges from Spanish cuisine (Catalan and other styles), to Mediterranean, Asian, Turkish, American, ...anything you could want! Plenty of fast food (Spanish branded fast food chains, not just McDonald's or Burger King - though they are there as well) if you really just want to eat and run.

Has anyone tried the restaurant at the top of El Corte Ingles in Placa de Catalunya? I've read there is a self-serve section and sit-down section.

this is the one, just off Las Ramblas, great place to eat and watch the world go by, a very busy world at that.

There is a shuttle bus from the ship. You will see the large statue of Columbus at a large traffic roundabout. This is the bottom end of Las Ramblas. Walk up there taking in the sights and the market is on the left half way up
