quiescentlyfrozen Posted August 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2009 Another odd question. For you experienced Millie-philes, where would a good place be to direct about 35 people to meet on a morning we are in port? I am looking for an area that is easy to find, but also big enough that 35 people can meet up without getting in the way of other passengers? This isn't somewhere we need to be able to hang out - we just need an area for us all to get together so that we can then head off the ship in a group. (Instead of trying to find eachother at the dock, which none of us will have seen or have a good idea where to go/what landmarks are.) I need to write up instructions for my group tonight, and won't have a chance to explore the ship before deciding what a good spot is, unofortunately! Thanks for any insight! barbels Posted August 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2009 Meet in the casino. It will be closed inport so there should be room to gather.
mkbruce Posted August 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2009 Meet in the casino. It will be closed inport so there should be room to gather. I second the casino idea - it's convenient for exiting the ship as well (i.e. on a lower deck)
quiescentlyfrozen Posted August 4, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted August 4, 2009 Perfect! I knew you all would have great ideas! So point of clarification: 1) Is the casino actually going to have it's doors open - ie, should I say meet INSIDE the casino? 2) If not, are there more than one entrance to the casino (in which case, I should choose a specific entrance to say to meet near), or is there just one entrance (for me to say "meet by the casino entrance")? Thanks again, and especially for such a fast response!
2theship Posted August 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2009 Another possibility is the Rendezvous Lounge. It's right by the aft elevators. We used it on another ship last summer and it was quite convenient. There are some folks that tend to arrive extremely early and they can sit comfortably while they wait for the others. Plus, there was a phone nearby for when we needed to call and nag the slow-pokes to get a move on. Also, you can easily specify port or starboard side so everyone is easy to find. There are essentially four entrances/exits (port and starboard, fore and aft), so it's harder to describe which of these you mean. There is a large bar on the aft end of the casino (closes to the Grand Foyer) - you could meet there.
hajekfam Posted August 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2009 The Rendez-vous lounge was where we set up to meet our private tour groups. Plenty of seating while you wait. and you can see the whole lounge.
Lsimon Posted August 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2009 The Rendez-vous lounge was where we set up to meet our private tour groups. Plenty of seating while you wait. and you can see the whole lounge. We've been on cruises where this was the offical meeting place for the cruise line's own tours - not often but it happens. If so that could confuse things. But the Martini Bar right above is never used that time of day and would work fine. Lots of chairs there.
The_Big_M Posted August 4, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2009 An alternative I'd suggest is at the back of the grand foyer, in front of the cinema. Only one entrance, and it's not a thoroughfare at that time. Like Rendezvous, it is used as a meeting area because of the space and location.
