Putterdude Posted August 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2009 The much anticipated rapid transit line from YVR to Vancouver's downtown will open Aug 18th per attached article in the Vancouver "Sun". This will be good news for cruisers.:) http://www.vancouversun.com/Canada+Line+debut+August/1859013/story.html
cdkempton Posted August 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks for the article. I checked out the one interior photo and I'm thinking we'll take a taxi from the airport to Pan Pacific. We have 3 checked bags (not huge) and a carry-on each for the 2 of us and it looks as though it may be a bit awkward to board and get situated with that amount of luggage. Perhaps 1 checked and 1 carry-on would work o.k. Can't seem to get by with that amount of luggage for a 2 week cruise plus 3 days in Van pre-cruise. Gotta have that rain gear and extra shoes. The possible weather extremes = 1 extra checked bag. :( Happy Sails, Colette

We cruise on 9/11 and we leave from Seattle and end up in Vancouver and were going to take a taxi to the airport. This will be much less expensive. Langley Cruisers Posted August 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2009 I know! Months ahead of schedule, and almost double the budgeted cost. Oh well. :p

LeftcoastBC Posted August 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2009 Anyone have a link to the schedule or map of the light rail. It will just go.... early morning til late evening. Using the words "Light rail" will get you into trouble though. That was everyones cheaper option.

Urban trekker Posted August 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 10, 2009 "I know! Months ahead of schedule, and almost double the budgeted cost. Oh well' It is still cheaper than your new 10 lane bridge and doubling of highway lanes out to the valley - when you say it was double the budgeted cost was that before or after the airport extension was added and the City of Vancouver aka - Larry Campbell and company decided to add an additional station at 2nd and Cambie to serve the Olympic Village. So distressing to see all that lovely grass that use to be in the medium on the highway now nothing but piles of dirt. Cheers Dennis
