lakette3 Posted August 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Our group just switched the floor we have our cabins on as we did not know that Deck 8 had resturants, etc. on it. There are also other venues on that floor. I think trying to get an elevator to that floor, etc. would be difficult when trying to get back to the room. I don't know what the noise level would be as the ship isn't sailing yet and don't want to be stuck with the cabin if reviews state that. Luckily we were able to switch to same location but different floor.

Luckily we were able to switch to same location but different floor. Then again, if you go with that logic, all the elevators will be going to your deck each evening. So all the people will leave the elevator when they get to deck 8 and it would then been all yours.;) Also, all of those restaurants on deck 8 will be accessed from Central Park which is part of the interior of the ship. People going to Deck 8 restaurants won't have any reason to be going down the hallways that access the cabins located at the exterior of that deck. People with deck 8 cabins should not be affected by people going to the restaurants at Central Park anymore than people on any other deck. I do agree that catching an elevator on this ship will be a problem at peak times. That's why I think cabins on decks 6, 7 & 8 will be the most coveted cabins on this ship since those three decks will be in easy stairway distance for most of the evening venues at the dining room, casino, shows, bars, etc... TITISSA Posted August 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2009 I'm on deck 17. I'll be doing a lot of walking:D.
proxim2020 Posted August 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2009 I almost booked 8, but then I looked at the deck plans and saw the restaurants and central park. I was concerned about how much noise would come from the restaurants across the hall and an increased amount of random traffic walking down the corridor since it's the central park. I was also concerned with sounds and vibration from equipment resonating through the floor. I'm sure they've thought about all this before, but I book 9 just in case. lakette3 Posted August 14, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Hi Proxim, That is why we changed. We are going with the unknown. If the feedback is good about deck 8, on future Oasis/Allure ships I would consider it. We are going to be on Deck 9 now.

bajathree Posted August 21, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 21, 2009 I wouldn't worry at all about deck 8....looks like a convenient deck to be on actually.
The Grumpus Posted August 21, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 21, 2009 I wouldn't worry at all about deck 8....looks like a convenient deck to be on actually.Yeah, I have a feeling the less you need to use the elevators on this ship, the better off you'll be. Of course that isn't going to stop me from going on the ship or using them. Actually, I plan to use the Rising Tide Bar as my elevator of choice!:)
The Grumpus Posted August 21, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2009 Grumpus, excellent points. I'm glad to have your perspective. I feel better about a Deck Eight cabin now. It's cool! I'm anxiously waiting to hear if actual people share in this perspective once the cruising starts to happen, I think they will. Nothing against the upper decks of course, I just feel I'd rather be closer to the areas of this ship that are more traditionally used during the evening.:)
lakette3 Posted August 21, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted August 21, 2009 Only reason I switched is because I have no idea what to expect. Being that I am not going until Oct 2010, I would rather hear back from others about Deck 8 after they have sailed the ship. My RCCL TA won a 2 day weekend on the Oasis before the innagural this November and is going to let me know a lot about the ship as well as send me pictures of the various things I am curious about. GeckoGirl Posted August 21, 2009 #13 Share Posted August 21, 2009 I wouldn't worry at all about deck 8....looks like a convenient deck to be on actually. Exactly, that is actually why I picked Deck 8, it was convenient to alot of stuff and I liked the idea of being able to stroll out to Central Park each day without having to take the elevator or stairs. If I want a snack or drink I could easily get one without having to go to another deck. I'm definitely keeping my room on deck 8, no switching for me, unless of course they want to give me an aqua suite or something for free, LOL.
