Irishlinny Posted July 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2012 This thread is informational only, and I do not want to start a smoking debate here. Just sharing some information that we just found out...there will be no smoking allowed anywhere on Lido on the Breeze (despite John's FB post just before she sailed that smoking would be allowed on Lido port side). Smokers will have to go up to deck 11, or down to Promenade port side. Since Carnival does such a lousy job of giving out the correct information, I thought I would share. firefly333 Posted July 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Does this have to do with some of the food choices, that they decided were too close to the smoking area? I seem to have heard it was a issue on Dream class.
kyrisong1 Posted July 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks for the info Linda!! Maybe Carnival has too many customers and they are trying to clear some out???? Carole
crusinpsychRN Posted July 8, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Interesting. Has anyone smoked in the cabin and paid the $250 fine?

I seem to have heard it was a issue on Dream class. I believe that was on Liberty where those problems arose. At the moment (and always subject to change on their whim), smoking is still allowed on Magic and Dream Lido port side, so obviously it isn't an issue with food venues. Thanks for the info Linda!! Maybe Carnival has too many customers and they are trying to clear some out???? Carole That's what I'm thinking, Carole!;) Interesting. Has anyone smoked in the cabin and paid the $250 fine? Nope, but then again, I always get a balcony, and I plan to smoke on it. Since Carnival gives me fewer places to smoke, I'll just spend more time on my balcony and less money at their bars;):p
Sargent_Schultz Posted July 8, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Probably too many Russians ignoring the rules anyway. But good news for non-smokers!

Did this on Liberty after Guy Burgers went in. That wasn't my plan, but it turned out that way. So, happy Lido.

RWolver672 Posted July 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted July 8, 2012 I'm not going to take sides here but it seems ironic that they built a non-smoking ship, lost their kiesters on it, made it a smoking ship and now are making the rest of the fleet almost non-smoking. Didn't they learn anything from the Paradise?

Didn't they learn anything from the Paradise? I think they did learn from Paradise, but smoking on that ship is now just as limited to certain areas. They will still fill those ships with the Lido ban as long as there is smoking allowed on the balconies. I think Paradise also lost revenues in the casinos with the decrease of gamblers and sales of their drinks. So, Magic and Liberty are off my list. I've noticed Liberty has some mighty fine rates for inside cabins, gee, why could that be?
Irishlinny Posted July 8, 2012 Author #16 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Works for me! :) But if you get the balcony next to me, don't complain that I'm smoking:cool: UGH! Another ship off our to do list. Yeah, we're trying to get them to post a list of each ship's smoking areas since they apparently are becoming much different from one another, even in the same class... What part of not making this a smoking debate did you miss?? Thanks very much, my friend!;):D
legion3 Posted July 8, 2012 #17 Share Posted July 8, 2012 What part of not making this a smoking debate did you miss?? The (not) part. The Paradise was likely ahead of its time. Smoking is likely to be banned more not less in the future. The writing seems quite all over the wall. Right now its a money maker for taxes, when it ceases to be a moneymaker then watch out. Ron_L Posted July 8, 2012 #19 Share Posted July 8, 2012 It doesn't matter to us since we don't smoke, but is this a change after the first few cruises? I've been reading reports and reviews from folks on the cruise and they say that smoking is allowed on the port side of the Lido Deck.

I've been reading reports and reviews from folks on the cruise and they say that smoking is allowed on the port side of the Lido Deck. That's interesting....the couple of reviews I read did not list any part of Lido in the allowed smoking areas. Since John had posted just before Breeze sailed that smoking was allowed on forward and aft Lido port side, I sent him the question on FB. He verified that they have a "Lovely area" on deck 11 where smoking is allowed. So not sure what's going on, but that is what he told me...no smoking anywhere on Lido... Gary Yes, apparently it is allowed (for the moment) on part of the Lido for all ships except Liberty and Breeze. Having different rules for different ships is problematic at best.... Having different rules for different ships is problematic at best.... Left or right, you'll find the area quick enough. If a ship getting a Guys during 2.0, Lido smoking goes away, from what I understand. When discontent started in 2011 on Liberty, it should have been a wake up call to Carnival. I mentioned the super cheap rates for interior rooms on Liberty, almost makes it feasable for solo travel, but ain't gonna do it! That ship is toooo big to get to level 10 out in the open.
