gupebreedr Posted May 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Can I change a booking made with Early Saver to a past guest rate with upgrade without a penalty????? Thanks in advance for your valued assistance....:)
gtalum Posted May 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2015 With Early Saver, you can change to any available rate that you qualify for. Be warned, though, that you won't be able to change back to Early Saver, and you won't be eligible for any price drops in your new cabin category after final payment if you switch away from Early Saver. Sparky2 Posted May 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Can I change a booking made with Early Saver to a past guest rate with upgrade without a penalty????? Thanks in advance for your valued assistance....:) Are you trying to price drop using PG rate. You can do that and still remain ES. Once ES, always ES. We booked ES but price matched to Military in order to get the $100 OBC. Price did not change but the OBC was added. We're still ES so we can get price drops up till 2 days before sailing. If you are trying to actually cancel your ES booking you'd lose $50 PP to do so. Then would technically be re-booking at the PG rate. Edited May 28, 2015 by Sparky2

I don't have experience with switching to Military rates, but in 2013 I switched from ES to a lower Past Guest rate and was denied price drops after final payment. ready2cruzagain Posted May 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2015 OP...do not cancel the booking. All you need to do is fill out the ES Price form and submit it if you are eligible for past guest. gtalum>>no clue why you would have ES and price match to past guest and not be able to price match after final payment. Something there was not right. You should have been able to price match up until 2 days before final payment. Did you maybe price match to a guarantee room? A few years ago you could price match to a guarantee room and then would not be able to price match after that. gupebreedr Posted May 28, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Just off the phone with carnival, was able to upgrade my cabin on the Vista for the January 14th, 2017 sailing. I am still Early Saver but they gave me the past Guest rate. Since my sailing is still 1&1/2 years away I am still eligible for price cuts. Upgraded from a balcony on deck 8 to a balcony on deck 10(Lido) for a total of $40.00 more. I am so stoked. The person I spoke with was wonderful and very helpful. Good costumer service is so hard to come by these days. Kudos to Kathy in the reservation department............:D:D:D:D:D:D Can ya tell I'm a happy sailor!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for ya'lls assistance. pokergirl34 Posted May 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2015 With Early Saver you can match prices up until two business days before sailing. Keep looking for better prices! Before final payment you receive a lower final payment due. After final payment you get onboard credit. On our last cruise our rate dropped in half and we sailed with $735 in onboard credit. It had dropped just as much prior to final payment, lowering our balance due.

Is there a reason a deck 10 balcony is better than a deck 8 balcony? I'd have guessed they were the same.
Luv2Cruise1756 Posted May 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 30, 2015 I'm confused with the Early Saver program. I booked a cruise for June 2016. I was told that if the pricing goes down anytime prior to sailing because we did the Early Saver guarantee and if our sailing were to go on sale we would lose our deposit? Is this correct? Our deposits were 350 pp so don't want to lose that.

But when you do check for a price drop, it has to be for a same or higher category. You cannot price check to a Guarantee cabin. Hope this helps. Your explanation about price matching to a guarantee rate might be the reason he was no longer ES. We've booked ES every year since they did away the the FCCs. We've always price dropped to another rate - ie. military, senior, casino rate, etc. Always remained ES.
Sparky2 Posted May 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 30, 2015 Just want to point out that if you have a reduced deposit and want to price drop, the balance of the initial deposit will be due, unless the price drop offer also has a reduced rate. We love cabins on Lido since it is so convenient to all the activities on that deck. You don't have to wait for elevators or use stairs to get to the pools, food, bars, and movies.
