Signatures and Prime

We were making the reservations online for signature and prime & made one each. We saw this week that a second reservation was available

At signatures later in the week. We went to add it but it said doing so would cancel our existing reservation. Are we limited as to the total number of specialty reservations?

That is correct - and if the ship is very full you may not be able to get a second reservation at either.

However, we enjoyed the dinners at Sette Mari very much, for which you do not need to book. To my mind these 3 venues offer very good food - cannot say the same for any other meals on board. (Personal opinion of course, and no doubt will be flamed for saying so).

No one should flame you for your opinion. We prefer Compass Rose to any of the specialty restaurants and are particularly happy that Signatures will be replaced by Chartreuse on all of the ships (sometime after the launch of the Explorer). We have had fabulous meals in all dining venues but do not find consistency in Prime 7 in particular and preferred the food in Signatures when it was prepared by Le Cordon Bleu standards.

In terms of getting extra reservations, the longer the cruise, the more chance of getting an extra reservation. Also, being open to sharing a table and dining at times that are less popular is helpful. Sometimes stopping by the restaurant and checking availability works. Best of luck!

I have to admit that I am comparing Compass Rose on Regent to the main restaurant on Seabourn, and find there is no comparison - and I have been on both lines, so am able to do a comparison. No doubt when you have done lots of Regent cruises the specialised restaurants begin to pall a bit, but for us 'newcomers' after a long break from Regent there was a marked difference in the quality of both ingredients and cooking between the special restaurants and the main dining room. Almost like being on two different cruise lines. (Just in the evening.)

Whilst we are on the subject of P7 & Signatures can someone advise me re the online booking procedure.

We have previously only traveled on Regent as a couple so booking was straight forward. However on our next cruise in December we are travelling with another couple ( but we have booked seperately).

How do we book a table for 4 ie myself + other half and our 2 friends ????

All comments gratefully received.

Swabs,

To link the other couple with your reservation, you need to select the option to not share a table. This is counterintuitive but if you select the share a table option you will not be able to link the other couple. Once you select the do not share option, you will be given the opportunity to input the other couple's booking number. The system will then add the other couple to your reservation.

Hope this helps.

Please understand I love Regent, but my favorites are Terrace on Oceania along with Red Giner and Polo. Can't help it, but that doesn't mean that I don't love Sig. & Prime 7 on Regent. I'm disappointed in Sette M., but that is individual taste.

Your comment really defines why food is so subjective. We have sailed on Oceania's Riviera twice and could not stand anything in the Terrace Café (but loved Jacques). In our opinion, the quality of the food in the Terrace Café was lacking (although there was an amazing array of choices). We had pasta "cooked" in cold water, a server trying to pry open a clam that was obviously not cooked enough to open, etc.. I would prefer eating at Taco Bell over the Terrace Café but this in no way negates your experience and feelings about this dining venue - it is simply personal preference. We had dinner on Regent with a member of the Board of Directors of NCHL (was on the PCH Board) and told him what we thought of the Terrace Café (we did tell him nicely:-)

We did enjoy Red Ginger to a point but are hoping that the Pacific Rim on the Explorer is better. We do enjoy Sette Mari but mostly the antipasti bar and the Osso Buco. Polo on Oceania is similar to Prime 7 -- both have hits and misses (note: we were in an upper suite and were fortunate enough to dine at specialty restaurants every night so we dined in each several times during our two cruises). To be honest, I could not pick Polo over Prime 7 or visa versa. We do prefer Sette Mari to Toscana and definitely prefer Polo to Signatures. Although the Compass Rose equivalent on the Riviera is an amazingly beautiful space, the food was below Regent standards.

All of this simply means that we all have different tastes which is a good thing. IMO, anyone should be able to select a wonderful meal on Regent. If what you ordered is not to your taste, simply try something else (or order off menu 24 hours in advance -- something that you cannot do on Oceania).

Thank you all for your input! I cruised with Regent before when Signatures was Cordon Bleu and they had an Asian specialty restaurant ( which I liked and preferred to Prime). Been on Oceania and I liked Toscana & Polo & (the Pool Grille with the surf & turf sandwich!) but Not the main restaurant. Begged for more specialty reservations!!! Just came from Seabourn & loved the Main restaurant & the Colonnade. So now back to Square one and look forward to revisiting with old friends at Regent! Thanks to all of you who took the time to provide your insight!!!!

Good point, TravelCat. Actually, we liked Terrace because of the relaxed atmosphere, which was quite important after a long day of touring. Maybe that makes the food taste better. ;)

I'm actually happy where ever I might dine as long as the service is good, and I can relax. Not a big foodie, but the bars better make a good Manhattan. Ha

Any day in any restaurant on Regent & Oceania is a fabulous day.

Thanks Dave for your reply , just to expand on this a little.....

Does this mean that only one couple needs to make the booking and reserve the table for the 2 couples??

And if this is the case and I book a table for the 4 of us at each restaurant does this mean our friends can also book for the four of us??? ie we manage to get 2 reservations at each restaurant??

Sorry if this sounds confusing.

Swabs.

Sorry, no you can't. When you booked your friends you used their one allowed guaranteed reservation so if your friends tried to make a reservation for the 4 of you they would find all of both couples guaranteed reservations used.
