Excursions in Faroe Islands

We will be on the Oriana visiting Torshavn at the beginning of July. We are not keen on ship excursions, so tend to book with local operators. I have arranged something for all of our ports of call, except in Torshavn.

I have asked on the Roll Call thread, but not much activity there. My question is, does anybody know of a company that operates small group tours? I can find private tours, but they are very expensive in this part of the world.

I have not visited Thorshavn by cruise ship - arranged my own trips by flight. really nice place to visit.

A father and son took a cab from Torshavn and were on the same bird watching cruise as the ship tour and saved over 50% and saw more sites than the tour. They hadn't even set things up ahead of time.

Which tour have you arranged with Greengate? We are visiting Torsvhn in July too. Do they operate coach and/or tours for a few people? What happens if the port is cancelled due to weather? When in July do you return to Southampton? We sail on July 24th and it would be great to have feedback prior to our cruise if possible.Hope you enjoy your cruise.

We did a tour with 62N in 2012, found it very interesting and a fun day, despite the somewhat dreary weather. We had a van, maybe about 20 people or less, can't remember exactly, but not a huge crowd by any means. We docked at Klaksvik, not Torshavn.

Many people from our sailing took the bus to Torshavn and walked around, IMO our tour was much more comprehensive. A little expensive, but we'll never go back again so thought it was well worth it.
