Ship On A Stick / Medals Rarity?

So I was wondering, how easy are they to get on the Miracle?

My very first cruise was the Triumph. It was the best time I had in years, the crew and director were amazing. I never knew about ships on a stick until my group was playing a game and they handed us all 1 for playing, I thought, oh cool. One of the crew said to us they had a room literally full of them they would just grab whenever they had an activity next. So we did as many activities on the ship as we can, and we got so many by the end, we showed them off on our table.

The next cruise years later was the Glory. The crew and director were alright, not the best though. At all the activities, the crew weren't all that energized and they only gave 1 ship to the winner, even if the winner was a group. We even asked about them and most of the crew were stubborn about it.

Sure, I know the mindset about earning trophies, but you are on a cruise to relax and have fun. To get away from the stress. I was just wondering if I can show my wife the excitement about them as I did on my first cruise.

Thank You.

Two weeks ago we got off Splendor. My wife and I played several games, we love try winning the SOAS. Anyhow this was the first time we won one for each of us. Normally we win one for the both us. I also noticed, during the games the funsquad gave out a SOAS for each person on Splendor just not one per group.

I've got a bunch of 'em, but I'm a singer, and have done well over 50 Carnival cruises. The great majority of them were presented for participation in the "Legends Show" or the Passengers Talent Show. GREAT fun indeed.

We just have one, from Liberty in 2014. We usually don't play trivia but on that particular cruise, we skipped the MDR (formal night...I'm sorry, "cruise elegant") and since we missed Grand Cayman due to weather earlier that day, we weren't able to pick up the two comedians that were supposed board, so Punchliner shows were cancelled the rest of the week. Since it wasn't nice enough outside to sit at the Red Frog Rum Bar, we went to the casino bar for drinks since there was music. They had a Classic Rock trivia, 40 points total to name 20 songs & the artist and since we enjoy classic rock, we decided to stick around and play for something to do. We actually HAVE most of the songs they played (VERY popular) on CD and know the rest well, except for one. We possibly tied with someone else since I could not hear the answer to the song we weren't sure about (hubby thought he knew the title) when he gave it out. I went up with our sheet to the host and asked if that one was correct and he just pulled out the two "trophies" out of a duffle bag that was FULL of the plastic ships on sticks & handed us each one. I told him I didn't know if my answer was correct yet or not and the host just said we could compare our answers and then left to go to the next contest. So, we have one. The question still remains...did we win, did we tie, or did we actually come in a close 2nd? We'll never know. I still can't figure out what that song was. But we normally don't seek out trivia to play for a ship on a stick. Nice to have the one though, Liberty is our favorite ship and we sailed her again the following year out of San Juan on what would probably become one of our 2 favorite cruises of all time.

I was just on the Sunshine, July 26-August 3rd. 1st sea day my 18 year old nephew wanted to do the sports trivia. In the end, he was tied with someone and my nephew got the tie breaker question and won. There was a guy in his 40's who could not/would not believe my nephew didn't cheat and started asking him questions. I was a little annoyed but actually quite amused when my nephew answered every single question he had. All I kept on thinking it is a $1 plastic trophy you are that upset about?? :)

Great ideas everyone. I guess I was just selfish thinking of getting as many as I can. Now that I think of it, I only kept 1 from each ship and donated the others. I'll try to go for 1 ship/medal for my wife and I and give it either to the 2nd place person or a kid on the ship, that is a really kind gesture.

I like to find a kid in a wheelchair to give it too

After you win one SOS why not let the second place winner get one.

Then why not give one to everyone who participates. Competition and winning is good thing. Why Not give the 2nd place person or team the winners trophy, Makes the perfect example for the world we live in today everyone who participates gets a prize we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings

When everyone gets a participation trophy winning means nothing and people should always try their best.

The first place finisher giving the trophy to the second place finisher is not that IMHO.

Cheap plastic junk.

There is an active secondary market on eBay if they are that important to you.

Perfect! They will have "extra" pieces of "plastic junk" to give to those who enjoy winning such things. I don't know you, but what a kill joy to those travelin with you Sir.

+1

I take pride in having won the few that I have. Just a simple reminder of the great time we've had on our cruises! :D
