Discuss Implementation of Smoking Policy

I know that I am two months late on this reply but the Royal has the best spot on deck 17 aft for smoking. Lounge chairs, occasional wait staff to get drinks for you and coffee and juice in the morning. It was perfect, did not bother the non-smokers and since it is at the very end of the ship during sea days the odor just drifted off to sea. My wife is a cigarette smoker and I and my brother enjoy the occasional cigar, this was perfect. The best of all worlds for those of us who indulge in the nasty habit without bothering those who have made it their life mission to make it impossible for us. (Please understand that I do not favor smoking in areas that will in fact offend others but I love the fact that there can be places made for a win/win.

Well said!!

Do they have it open on port days?

We'll be heading into the sunset on the Golden in August and I'm so happy that Princess allows e-cigs in the staterooms. I've used mine for about 5 years now and love it. Hubby has allergies and my granddaughter has asthma. Back when I smoked regular cigs I had to be really careful around my sweet grandbaby because even the smell on my clothes could set her off. Now she just says grandma you smell like French Toast or Watermelon or Peaches or whatever flavor I happen to be vaping that day :):)

Just remember that they are not allowed on a balcony. Originally that was allowed but there must have been too many people who complained because the policy was changed pretty quickly.

Yep I read that Thrak. Thanks for the heads up though. :) I don't vape in public places where smoking isn't allowed anyway. There is so much misinformation out there about e-cigs and some people tend to freak out about it.

Does anyone know if the area around Morgan's Bar on CB is a smoking area? I thought that I had seen on another forum that it was, but would find this strange as it is right next to a children's pool and kids clubs etc?

Just got off Royal. Service on Deck 17 for smokers was every day from about 6:00AM until 11:00 PM including port days. Deck 17 AFT was always crowded. There were many foreigners and apparently smokers on the ship! Deck 7 big joke, 2 metal wall attached ashtrays in a corner no chairs. Churchill's small, terrible ventilation. Was told that they will be improving it next year as many complaints about it have come in. ( No bar, no pool or TV screens for the smokers).

Just got off the TA, almost booked a rear cabin, but choose mid-forward to be close to Churchills and the outside smoking on 16. Just a heads up, a fellow smoker booked her cabin at the aft, only to find that they took away the aft smoking area (there was a spot on 17 on the side of the ship, two tables completely in the elements and yes the dredded two ashtrays on the wall at the back of the Promenade deck). She spent her time trecking all the way forward to get to the smoking areas. Really wish they would stop changing up these areas. Considering the Grand Princess again, as last year they had a nice smoking area at the back, but would hate to book an aft cabin only to find the space "had been taken away from us".

Where is smoking on the Golden? I've also notice that they have been taking away any good smoking spots aft on other ships.

I was on the Golden last year and I smoked on the 14th or 15th deck, we were on 12th deck go up the stairs past the pool then up another set of steps to the left and it's tucked into the corner next to the bar :)

I am a smoker and I just returned from the Golden.

There is smoking on Deck 15 above the Prego Pizzeria on the port side by the bar. This is ok, but I think it is a dumb place to put it since the kids club is right inside the door.

You can smoke on the promenade deck (7) outside the aftmost doors near the Vista Lounge. While I appreciate an area to smoke, this is also not a great location for three reasons: 1: people trying to exercise and walk around the ship will be walking right through there, 2: there's no place to sit and 3: there is a vent in front of that door and a very putrid odor eminates from there most of the time.

You can smoke in the Casino when it isn't formal night. My nose may be compromised, but my non-smoking wife walked through the port side of the Casino and was not offended at all.

You can sometimes smoke in Skywalker's lounge. I don't know if there are rules, but if there are ashtray's out, then go ahead.

The only nicer place to smoke is the Players Club bar located on deck 6 between the hallways that lead to the Princess Theater. Tables, TVs, bar, air purifiers and such. Not bad.

My favorite smoking area is on Deck 15 aft on the Grand Princess behind the One5 lounge. Covered, comfortable, wicker chairs and couches, tables, service and at the back of the ship where it doesn't bother others. I wish they would do this on all of their ships - makes sense to me.

Beware, no matter where you smoke there will be some hand waving, face scrunching, fake coughing, rude comment making person who is sure to make sure you know that they disapprove of your choices.

We will be cruising on the Emerald in Jan 2016 and was wondering where you can smoke on that ship?

Yes, we are aware of the hazards of smoking and do not need the lectures that usually accompany this request for information. So Thank you in advance for not including your anti-smoking opinions.:)

Is there smoking inside the casino on British Isles cruises? In the UK smoking is banned from all indoor public areas, I just wondered if Princess adopt this policy when sailing around the British aisles?

Many thanks x

There is a very nice lounge next to the casino where cigars are sold. There are several seating areas with couches and chairs and a t.v. You can smoke in there as well as in the casino except when it is non-smoking night. There is also a space on deck 15 by the bar with tables and chairs.

Thank you for reply, I suppose at least it will stop being in there too much.

FYI: usually on formal nights the casino is non-smoking.

We went in a couple of times when smoking was allowed and stayed on the "non-smoking" side - don't laugh, at least they try.

It didn't smell too bad...they seem to have pretty good exhaust fans in that area.

DH is a reformed smoker and I have never smoked. We both hate the smell.
