Windstar specials?

as a newbie to this cruise line please pardon my ignorance... Does Windstar ever run any specials and/or do you ever get any perks for just booking? any upgrades?

Does Windstar honor price reduction before final payment without your having to rebook ? and if after final payment would Windstar at least give you OBC?

I find their website a bit confusing and lacking in quick FAC's.

Windstar does honor price reductions prior to final payment.

Windstar MAY offer upgrade or OBC if there is a price reduction after ones final payment which indeed is not the norm for most cruise lines.

From the Windstar site:

Guests who purchase a cruise on Windstar will be eligible for reimbursement upon request if the fare published by Windstar for their specific departure and cabin class is reduced after they have made a booking and deposit, and if the request is received by Windstar at least 7 days prior to sailing. The reimbursement will be provided in the form of a shipboard credit, upgrade, fare reduction, or a future cruise credit. Windstar will determine the form of reimbursement, and the amount of reimbursement will be the difference between the fare actually paid by the guest and the published fare on WindstarCruises.com the day the request is received. Guests who select reimbursement will be eligible for any complimentary inclusive features (e.g., hotels, air, tours) associated with the new fare and will forfeit any complimentary inclusive features associated with the original fare. All requests for reimbursement must be made directly to Windstar Cruises at 1-877-959-9805 (during regular reservations hours) at least seven (7) days prior to sailing. Windstar’s new fare pricing assurance policy will take effect with new bookings made on or after June 27, 2016. Windstar reserves the right to modify or terminate this policy at any time for bookings not yet made.

We had this happen in Feb this year when there was quite a large reduction. When we called the Windstar Agent was really helpful and we ended up with a large OBC plus an upgrade. Its good to know you can book with confidence that WS will do the right thing by you. Just make sure you call them in time if it happens to you - no changes or credits can be made within 7 days of sailing.

So the answer to your other question is of course - yes, WS do have some good sales!

We asked for a quote from Windstar upon receipt of an advertising message. Do they reply? And if so, how long does it take?

Just wondering, as it just might be our first Windstar cruise....

So how do you check pricing for your cruise, do you have to send a request on the website to check pricing or is there an easier way to see if your fare has gone down?

The fare is right on the webpage, you can check it there. There is also an online TA that works with WS that you can use to check prices. Can't name it here, but you can find it.

Just be aware if you had any perks (drink pkg. etc.) with your original booking, you may lose this if you find a lower fare and ask for repricing.
