just back from Carnival Glory... what a trip!

Our itinerary changed due to DANNY heading directly into our path... we didn't mind, it is hurricane season, but lots of people complaining. Sheesh people, get a grip! You want the cruise ship to go straight into a hurricane, toss up and down in the waves and constant rain, not be able to dock anywhere, just because you had your heart set on St Thomas? Really???

Mike Pack is the BEST cruise director EVER. Period. The man is a beast, we saw him daily, talked to him daily, he was everywhere and involved in EVERY activity day and night. What a fun guy, so nice, so high energy. I would recommend doing the Glory just for HIM.

Playlist Productions was FANTASTIC. Loved the MotorCity show and EpicRock was the best, but they were all great and performers gave 150% every show. Lots of audience participation now, for those who complained about the shows. Go see them again, it has changed.

Food... eehhh... we found the lunch buffets to be lower standard that we had on the Magic and Freedom. Don't know why, just not much variety and everything cooked seemed to be battered fried. Did see a grilled fish one day which was good but I just don't eat fried chicken nuggets. Not much for vegetarians other than salad (which was rather lame, too). What a shame. Main dining room food was good to fantatastic. Waiters and staff were unbelieveably wonderful, friendly, and fun. Great great staff!!! Guys and Blue Iguana stayed busy. Very disappointed in the Fish place upstairs... greasy and/or bland, staff rude. Never got to try Pizza Pirate as their oven was down the only time we tried.

I may post more about our trip down in the excursions sections.. we some fun ones this trip!! Lots of photos and videos.

Well it sounds like you had a great time. So can the good attitude and optimism. I want to hear some complaining and how much compensation you were able to extract from Carnival.

Sounds like you have read a few posts on here before!!!:D People think they should get the world on a cruise.....I have missed ports before, its all good, stuff happens...They dont even need to refund me the island tax, but they do.

OP- Glad to hear Glory is doing well, I will be on her for 14 day cruise starting on Halloween this year. We are looking forward to a long cruise....I have been on Glory (my first cruise was Glory) several times.

The buffet food is buffet food, it works.....its one meal in your life of many... I eat a lot of salad at lunch time, its not great but OK.

Thanks OP for the info. Sailing for 21 days on the Glory next January and was wondering about the CD. To me a CD can make or break a cruise. Our last CD with Carnival was Gary Brierley and he stunk. All he wanted to do was trivia and Hasbro. Worst entertainment I have ever had on a cruise.

Looking forward to having Mike Pack as a CD.

I really hated the Production Shows last time but will try again. I do hope they are better.

For those who are trivia buffs, they'll write how wonderful it is:D I went to a Hasbro show and although it wasn't my cup of tea, it clearly was to others.

If I was 10 years old again and parents allowed me to go to evening shows I would think Hasbro was awesome.

As evening entertainment rather juvenile and pathetic, and based on empty theatre most agree with me.

We did it once and after about 15 minutes hubby and me had enough.

Did the soloist rock and roll guitar players lead off Epic Rock? We loved that show. The Glory has been our vacation home for the eastern route and to Canada. Best cruise ever.

YES.... the guy from another rock band onboard comes out in the Pre-Show for Epic Rock, and does 15 minute electric guitar solo live walking around the theater. He is AWESOME, love love love it.

WE actually went to see the show twice because the whole show is so great! Late show was packed with people standing all the way around downstairs and upstairs! When they did it the next night as early show it wasn't quite as packed but just as good. But now, on the Glory, after the show is over the whole cast goes out to Lobby to dance with everyone, meet and greet, take photos for about 15 minutes. People went nuts for it.

Shows.... if they keep the same schedule, the first night is the Welcome Show where they introduce all the acts playing all over the ship as well as comedians.

The second and third nights are Playlist Productions, same shows each night just reversed to which is early and which is late. Our trip had Motor City Music and Divas Show, both very good. The Fourth and Fifth nights were Hasbro the Gameshow and some other audience participation events, mostly geared for families. Then Sixth and Seventh nights are the Playlist Productions again, we had Epic Rock and Latin Nights, both good again. Latin nights was good but we weren't as familiar with the music so it was our least favorite. Great performances, but just didn't know all the songs. Epic rock is just EPIC beyond words. The Divas show was also better than expected, Motor City was all Motown stuff from 60s, 70s, 80s.. you know every song by heart (Lionel Richie, Tempations, Supremes, Jackson 5, etc).

The singing and dancing are fantastic in all the shows... Glory has a very, very talented group.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

thankss for review, doing this ship in October. I ask where do i look to find list of shows going on?

also how did you find the cabins? were they quite sound proof

We were on the 6th floor... not soundproof at all unfortunately. We could hear the bands downstairs in the Casino. The couple across the hall from us complained every day and got moved to a higher floor. I don't think we will ever stay on 6th floor again.

Same here. That was the only "show" we have ever walked out on.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

We were on the same cruise as you and we were fine with the itinerary change. We looked at it as an adventure:)

Mike Pack was the best CD!! I hope we have him on our next cruise.

We weren't fond of the buffet either, but we aren't really buffet people so we might be a tad critical.

We loved the fish and chips place on the 10th deck. So much quieter and I ordered the bouillabaisse and the ahi tuna and watermelon salad three days for lunch. We also liked the calamari fritters as they weren't as greasy as the fish. I don't eat fries so I can't comment on those.

My husband raved about the Guy's burgers:)
