marco Posted April 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Check with specific companies, and specific boats they operate. We've been on several on various lines and have never been on one that an elevator goes to all decks and never on one that the elevator went to the upper outside deck. And if you dock next to another boat that you'd have to walk through to get to the dock, I don't think it would be possible if you were not able to walk even that distance. Floridiana Posted April 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Not on the Mekong and not on the Yangtze. Nothing is accessible with a scooter. You need to be able to walk short distances, up and down dirt embankments and stairs, get in and out of tender boats.
chengkp75 Posted April 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Both the river cruise and the disabled cruiser boards have a lot of information regarding your questions. In Europe, as others have said, the longboats dock alongside each other, and you may have to cross two or three boats to get to shore. The docks typically have stairs to get to street level. I believe Viking specifically prohibits scooters, but allows wheelchairs. The boats themselves, since they do not travel to the US, do not meet ADA requirements for accessibility, so not all spaces are accessible by scooter or wheelchair.
