February weather in Australia and New Zealand

Cruise is a long time off (February 2019), but just wondering what type of weather we can expect. :cool:

A simple Google search for a couple of your ports - "February Sydney weather" or "February Wellington weather" will get you the factual data.

Easy HOT in Sydney.

February, being summer, is usually the hottest month in NZ. Think August temps in the northern hemisphere.

If you get to Melbourne, HOT!!!

Australia will be hot to very hot. In Sydney you often get gorgeous mornings but afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

You might get some hot days in NZ but mostly it will be pleasantly warm. A light long-sleeved layer like a cardigan is useful for cooler days. However it will be cool if you are cruising though Fiordland so pack a warm hat, scarf and gloves, and a good rain jacket.

We were on the same cruise as OzKiwiJJ earlier this year (February) from Auckland to Sydney, the weather gave us just about everything on that cruise and we were extremely lucky going through the Sounds. One day can be so different to the next.

We then did the two following cruises, the next one being out to Fiji and back to Sydney where it was lovely and hot albeit too hot and humid in Fiji.

The last leg was up to Port Douglas and back where it was wet in Sydney and got warmer as we headed north. We still encountered lots of rain in Queensland but it was still lovely and warm. I believe they had the hottest January on record in Sydney followed by the wettest March since 1975. We also just missed the Cyclone Debbie that hit Airlie Beech at the back end of March and in contrast a week or so earlier we had fabulous weather during our visit to the Whitsundays.
