runner15km Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 The Western Carib ports are closer to the Equator so on average warmer then ports of Grand Turk and Bahamas.

satbeachbill Posted May 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Sometimes in the winter months, the Western Caribbean can be quite windy. More than once, the ports at Roatan and Belize have been skipped. Edited May 1, 2015 by satbeachbill
gay head Posted May 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2015 We have done both the Belize Roaton cruise and the Caymen Islands and the weathrt was dry and sunny in the Caymens and humid and cloudy in Belize and Roaton Also mosquitos and there is not a beach to speak of.The eastern itinerary is so much bettrr.Even though wr live in Houston and it is much easier to drive to Galveston we flew to Miami to go on the Breeze to avoid that Belize Roaton. again. Rare Tapi Posted May 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) I grew up in San Juan. Our idea of bitter cold winter temperatures was 75 degrees! Seriously, I think that, besides Half Moon Cay which could be a tad cool if a cold front moves from the US mainland, temperatures will be fairly comparable. That aside, the Eastern itinerary is SO much better! Edited May 2, 2015 by Tapi
carrieluvsgreg Posted May 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2015 We've been to the western side more often... So that might be the reason, but our weather has always been sunnier and Warmer on the western side.
navybankerteacher Posted May 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2015 "Colder" is simply not an applicable term in discussing the Eastern Caribbean.
cb at sea Posted May 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) The weather is pretty much the same once you get into the CARIBBEAN! Bermuda and Bahamas (and most of the "private" islands) are NOT in the Caribbean. Edited May 2, 2015 by cb at sea
Floridiana Posted May 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2015 The Western Carib ports are closer to the Equator so on average warmer then ports of Grand Turk and Bahamas. Just a geographical update: The southern Caribbean is closer to the Equator, not the western. The Bahamas are not in the Caribbean. ;) And yes, they are a bit cooler in winter when cold fronts drop down across Florida and the Bahamas.
