travelnut4 Posted May 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) We are looking to sail on the Coral to Alaska next year, and will reserve an inside stateroom due to the cost. Where are the best areas for public viewing since we won't have a balcony, and what deck is best for an inside cabin to have easy access to these viewing areas? Should we try for forward or aft? Our favorite area is the promenade deck. You can get a teak lounge chair with a blanket and watch the world go by in comfort . The other place is the Horizon (located forward on Lido deck) . Especially if you get a table to the very front . We saw sea lions (?) , orca's and humpback whales just sittimg there on a sea day having lunch. skynight Posted May 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2015 The best is anywhere on the Sun Deck where you can move around and get 360 degree views. The Promenade deck is also nice and it will be covered. The Horizon Ct. has forward views, but will most likely be crowded and tables by the windows will be filled up early. Unfortunately there will not be any aft views after March 2016 when the ship is re-configured. The only aft views will be from the Sanctuary, a pay area. There are several viewing areas both forward and aft on several passenger cabin decks (Baja/Caribe/Dolphin etc). Just walk all the way forward/aft to get to them and through the doors to the open deck.

Astro Flyer Posted May 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Unfortunately there will not be any aft views after March 2016 when the ship is re-configured. After booking our 1st inside cabin (Baja aft) on the Coral, our friends said that we had a great "balcony". They were correct...lots of room on a large partially covered "balcony" with reclining lounge chairs...the Baja deck aft viewing area.:D Sadly in 2016 that great viewing area and also the viewing deck on Caribe will be gone & will definitely be missed. :( Edited May 28, 2015 by Astro Flyer

RaiderCruiser Posted May 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Just a note on the forward viewing area on the Coral, Baja deck. There are 3 signs, one hand written, that show the door as an emergency exit. Be brave, walk on through and meet many of your fellow passengers. travelnut4 Posted May 28, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Thank you! Y'all are a big help! We usually cruise with Royal Caribbean but wanted to try Princess for Alaska. I'm sure I'll have more questions as the planning progresses!

MrPantsOz Posted May 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Just make sure that your inside cabin is not directly below the pools. The noise from the pumps etc makes for not very enjoyable cabin time.
travelnut4 Posted May 30, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted May 30, 2015 Good tip on avoiding the rooms below the pool! I'll go for a cabin that has cabins above and below.
