  1. I am not a beach person, but I did like Horeshoe Bay in Bermuda. DW has never met a beach she did not like!
  2. Happy anniversary coming up. We actually had our first cruise for our 25th anniversary back in 2002, round trip Barcelona to Barcelona.
  3. You probably also had passengers from river cruises there also. Our ship actually ported in Ghent with an optional tour to Brugge which we took. I'd say it was about half the passengers took the optional Brugge all day tour and half stayed in Ghent, one bus for each. As for cobblestone streets, much of Europe is like that.
  4. 👍 for available cookies. On our recent river cruise, there were at least 2 and I think 3 spots on the ship where cookies were always available. And I often took advantage of that.😉
  5. We had 3 religious holidays. The first was Maundy Thursday. The major cathedral that was included in our free tour was closed in the morning. We were able to go later on our own time and just show them the id from our river cruise for a free admission. IIRC, we were in Antwerp, Belgium that day. The next day was Good Friday, and the only real effect that had was it was also DW's birthday. And then there was Easter Sunday. DW missed our free excursion as she chose to go to a church service.
  6. Did you climb to the top at any of the windmills? And I second your comment about the natives on bicycles. They definitely do not yield for any pedestrians. And basically none of them wear helmets.
  7. From the looks of those shoes, it would seem it will be difficult, make that impossible, to dance a Cajun rhythm like a Willys in 4 wheel drive. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 We especially enjoyed Keukenhof on our river cruise. And DW found a tulip named after the Dutch family that were her ancestors on her Mother's side.
  8. We did not have museums tickets in advance but lucked out with the Rijksmuseum. DW asked at the box office and there were no tickets available at the time, but there were for the next half hour. Before that we went to a smaller museum, Moco, IIRC, near there. Later, we went to the Jewish Quarters and the Portuguese Synagogue. We were told our tickets were also good for the Jewish Museum, so we also went there, but only for a little bit as it was near closing time.
  9. They did a Bob Marley tribute on our cruise on the second night. And I had laid out a Bob Marley tee shirt the night before to wear that day not knowing that there would be that tribure. They were really, really good! 😊
  10. Yes. Oddly when we did Florence on Your Own we seemed to be the only ones on the tour who were doing it for art as opposed to shopping. With DW being an art teacher (now retired), we were not going to miss the major museums. And echoing another post, buy in advance timed tickets for the major museums.
