  1. The earliest we tend to eat on the ship would be 8, but more often 8.30 or just after. We’d usually aim to leave our room for 7.30 to 8 to go to the bar for a pre meal drink and see zero reason to want to change that. Going out to a restaurant in the evening at home, I doubt the restaurant would last very long if they turned people away at 8.30 If guests want to eat at 6 and SS happy to oblige, then fine - but not to the detriment of others. Still, at least you’re not subjected to photo packages and being lined up for snaps…….. Yet……
  2. It is 100% so you cant call them out for telling porkies when you know where your bag is and they tell you something completely different. You are correct. the battery in them is harmless as far of potential lithium battery dangers. Got 12 of the little buggers now! Handy for all sorts - keys, wallet, car, luggage etc etc
  3. Have a good one Mr Spectre. Have got a mini break in yacht club in a couple of weeks and snagged a good deal on RSS Splendor for next April, but sticking with the plans to land tour. China in November and Malaysia in Jan. Once on the WiFi, try using a VPN to bypass for whatsapp - though I suspect the throttling Fletcher mentions will kill that off from working. They blocked a scrabble game I use - a VPN got it working again, so worth a try. Failing that, hopefully your mobile provider still has roaming. It'll all still work until several miles from the coast. First cocktail at the pool on me. 😁
  4. 25 days to go and thankfully have received my "congratulations" email. We've been lucky enough to receive a upgrade beyond what we had bid and been allocated a Deluxe YC balcony suite. Happy days. Looking at current prices, its a huge saving from what we had paid in the original booking for our balcony with premium drinks.
  5. I suspect most people book based on Itinerary, Ship, what's included etc I expect the reason for stating they are available on Silversea regardless of category and served by your butler is simply highlighting some basic things are included on other lines but not available on Regent and were a little disappointed at the responses they were given. Why should that be a problem?
  6. And I bet they they didn't run out of beverages at the bar or pass you club soda instead of fevertree! Just in the process of selecting something for next year between April and June. There is a lot of choice! Looks like Regent Splendor is the one..... Have a look on the site you booked your last Wind voyage. Apologies OP for the interruption!
  7. The bid was accepted at the start of August. I appreciate and understand fully what a bid is what what it represents. The T&Cs clearly say the response from the bid team might not take place until 2 days prior to saying. I had thought during the numerous posts that the rep I spoke with confirmed my bid had been accepted and that his call was listened to and confirmed as factually correct - but he was wrong to do so. In short he told me 2 fibs. One was that had had called the bid team. Its impossible for him to do that and has been confirmed by other reps. Then following on, he not only didn't speak to them - telling me my upgrade was accepted and no longer pending was also not true. I've been waiting for a response to these numerous calls to hear if the bid team will act on the misinformation and get the bid fast tracked (as I had bid the max). I finally got that call 30 mins ago - and it went along the lines. "We are sorry we gave you that information. The guy will be disciplined. (Certainly not my intention.) The bid team, despite having been made aware of the facts of everything that's happened - including ignoring my email sent 2 weeks ago, have said - look the T&Cs say 48 hours - you'll have to wait." So a complete waste of time and no addressing of what had just happened. And now it gets worse. Straight after I spoke, I had an email from MSC. I had thought with luck, it was a change of heart and upgrade now confirmed. Alas, it wasn't. It was an email to tell me my bid has been amended. No change has been made to it (ie cost was still max) - but by virtue of the fact an amended has been registered, my place in the queue will have gone back from 7 August to 6 September! So yet another call to MSC to ask an explanation of what they are playing at. This experience has left me with no doubt this will be my last MSC booking, unless of course the upgrade happens, which I am truly doubtful.
  8. It’s still showing as pending. The reason I had initially called MSC was to see if I could change the card Id used, but while I was waiting for them to answer, I noticed the link was no longer working. So my first interaction was to ask about that. He claimed he saw it had been accepted and confirmed he had after speaking to the bid team. His “advice” was false and they have listened to the call and confirmed it to be the case. Two weeks ago because of that (and the fact I had bid the full amount), they said they would speak to them and get it fast tracked so it could be all sorted. Luckily the last rep has been good and has been calling me to say “sorry, they’ve still not responded to us”. She has been good despite the response not being positive. 4 people have failed to call back despite stating they would (and why I’ve continued to call.) Was it an error? I’m not sure how it can be an error to say he’s spoken on the phone to the bid team, when that’s impossible for them to do so…He claims they told him it had been accepted. That can’t be the case for 2 reasons. He couldn’t have spoken to them and it hadn’t been accepted. I’m starting to think I’m better off cancelling the bid and keeping the money.
  9. Nice. Great news for you. Well despite an agent telling me my bid was successful and calls listened to and agents promising to call back, I’m still waiting 2 weeks on since I was told II was in. i had no problem in waiting until the final 2 days if that’s what it was, but after the info from here about max bid timescales and wanting to change the CC I’d used, the events since have been pretty dire. They have confirmed from listening to calls, they did confirm I was successful and that on 4 occasions I was told they would call back. The bid team have ignored my email and also the several emails CS has sent them. Most unimpressed and the lady who actually did call back and continues to do so after escalating agrees it’s “embarrassing”. Fist world problems I know and my impatience is down to tithe information from them calls and not the wait, as I genuinely had no problem with what I was expecting… ie 2 days before sailing.
  10. A far better suggestion would have been to use the forward facing gallery area rather than Spaccanapoli! To be fair, I did actually think the OP must have been on the Ray or Nova (yes I know the clue was in the title!)
  11. I think you've misunderstood (or maybe I have!) On the new Nova class, any forward observation is behind glass. You can no longer be outside to set up cameras to time lapse for example. The Muse Class ships you could and everything prior. Not important to some of course, but you cant video or take photos through glass without negative effects. (Or ability to fix a gopro for video) Its why I'd never chose to sail on those ships. On most sailings Ive been on, you will see my cameras setup and left. (3 for the Panama transit.) Here is one of them - impossible on the Nova.
  12. Unfortunately the first person I spoke with clearly didn't speak to the upgrade team as he'd told me and it appears my full price bid is still just sitting there in limbo and not accepted yet despite his reassurance. Each rep I spoken with since (3 of them and email) have simply promised call backs but broke that promise on each occasion. So, its disappointing the guy lied to me, 3 reps promised and failed and no reply from a "24 hour response" email - and still waiting the upgrade info and CC payment change possibility of no one is answering! I'd prefer if they were just truthful and say they are not going to call me rather than raise expectations.
  13. Well I'm very unimpressed with MSC communications. The first guy never called back at all and still hasn't. I also sent an email as had been suggested to msg_upg@msccruises.com I called back and spoke with a concerned lady who promised to get this resolved and promised to call me back between 6 and 7pm. That didn't happen. I called back the following day. The lady read the notes and contacted the lady I last spoke with and I was told she would call back shortly. She also promised to give me a follow up call later to make sure I got that call. I got zero calls despite all the promises and 3 days on, still waiting a reply to my email. Is this standard practice by MSC?
