  1. @dani negreanu & @sgmn Dani & Sue. Hope both you and your husbands have a wonderful cruise. Look forward to seeing your photos.
  2. We then made our way to the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta where we watched an excellent performance of Ulster American.
  3. We then grabbed some lunch and having time to kill before an afternoon theatre performance, we drove to Lake Parramatta Reserve (a place I’d never been) and did a short walk in the bush before relaxing in the sun at a lookout. The family on the swan paddle boat looked like they were having fun.
  4. First day of our 3 day long weekend here. Started the day with a film at the Sydney Film Festival at the beautiful State Theatre in the city. Into the Ice - a documentary set in Greenland featuring scientists measuring data on climate change on the ice sheets of Greenland. The highlight was the vision of the scientists abseiling deep down a moulin (ice crevasse) to measure if there was water under the base of the moulin.
  5. Whoa Thor is a big boy. My DD likes to hoist our dogs up into her arms (Max won’t have a bar of it though) but our dogs only weigh about 22kg. Love his name. Would love to do a Panama Canal Cruise one day.
  6. Dani has given you a solid reading list but here are a few more: Historical: A Gentleman in Moscow - Amor Towles Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray (River of Dreams) - Anita Heiss The Signature of all Things - Elizabeth Gilbert Two Brothers - Ben Elton Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingslayer This Tender Land - William Kent Krueger The Year of Wonders & People of the Book - Geraldine Brooks Murder Mystery Fifty Fifty - Steve Cavanagh Good Girl Bad Girl - Michael Robotham Before you knew my name - Jacqueline Bublitz The Maid - Nita Prose The Lady with the Gun asks the Questions- Kerry ***** (1920s female sleuth Phyrne Fisher short story collection) The Lost Man - Jane Harper
  7. Sorry to hear about your grandsons allergies. That is a worry. I remember going to p & c meetings when my son was in his last year of school and the notice board in the staff room was full of photos of the kids who had multiple allergies. Hopefully your GS grows out of them by school age.
  8. Talking about commuting, I read today that there is to be a rail strike happening from the 21 June. DD has a train trip booked from London to Exeter on that date and will be in London for the week of the strike. Hoping the strike will be averted or not as bad as currently predicted. Hope you get over you cold quickly so you can enjoy your cruise to the fullest.
  9. DD went to a new hairdresser yesterday for a full head of foils for her upcoming holiday. She was served a delicious cheese platter. Plus the staff were lovely and they did a great job. She will be going back. Me, I am sticking with my no frills place that only provides out of date magazines but is half the cost 😀
  10. @helen haywood love the history of your garden that is so special. My dad can recall who gifted him plants in his garden over the years. When they flower each year, he will send them a msg and photo, saying “your” plant is looking good right now.
  11. My friend who tested positive 14 days before her expensive small group tour of The Kimberleys & small ship cruise on the Coral Geographer from Broome to Darwin was relieved that the cruise company changed the boarding test from PCR to RATS two days before she boarded. She was very worried they would be unable to board. Her TA told her to get a medical clearance letter which she did but on boarding the cruise she asked the staff about the letter and they said the letter would not have made a difference at all if she had tested positive on the RATS. The cruise prior to theirs had several guests quarantined. On theirs, only the onboard lecturer tested positive during the cruise. Photos and videos I spent 3 hours looking at on the weekend were amazing. Stunning scenery, lots of boabs, stunning waterfalls, so much Aboriginal rock art, stunning sunsets every single night. 0nly drawback to this cruise in my mind is that you can’t swim anywhere in the beautiful waters due to the crocodiles. They actually back the ship right up against the King Cascade Waterfalls and have the guests take turns standing on the very back of the deck, so they can have a “shower” under the falls. They did the jet boat ride to Horizontal Falls and flew by helicopter over two other falls. Amazing 10 day cruise. Food & service 10/10 she said.
  12. Due to the length of the cycle of our dishwasher, DH has a mon-Thursday rule that it cannot be put on after 9pm in the evening. The rest of us have selective hearing re the end of the cycle beeping and it drives him insane when he is drifting off to sleep and then he hears it’s incessant beeping…. Made the mistake of buying tall glasses recently for the third rack too.
  13. @sgmn & @dani negreanu how exciting that you are so close to your cruise. Enjoy being in a bubble for your negative test for your cruise.
  14. We have a lettuce shortage here. It’s been a really cold start to winter so not exactly burger or salad weather so shopper’s probably aren’t missing them too much as they would in summer or desperate to pay the $10 per head of lettuce. KFC have announced their burgers will have cabbage & lettuce due to this supply shortage (mainly due to the recent devastating floods)
  15. I loved the original too. Maverick is part homage to the original, part edge of the seat action. You won’t be disappointed.
  16. Jade is an absolute stunner. I starting to get cat envy from all the beautiful cats in this group. Thanks to all of you who recommended Top Gun: Maverick. It was excellent. I am so glad we saw it on the big screen at the multiplex.
  17. @A&L_Ont Congratulations to Owen and his team mates on their tournament win. A very exciting weekend. The whites - sigh. DH played cricket until he very reluctantly retired in his late 40s and DS has been playing since he was 8….
  18. @helen haywoodBeautiful home and sweet cats. Love the history of your home - the origin of your screen name I assume?
  19. @Keksie Love Annabel’s colours and her distinctive Maine Coon ears. Hope she eventually settles in well with the rest of your fur family in your home.
  20. DH has a large cupboard full of vinyls. After throwing out all his VHS tapes, he said I am never going to play these vinyls and wanted to throw them out too. Talked him into keeping them because I think he would regret it later.
