  1. Thanks for the compliment. I take all the photos on my iPhone XS which my “kids” keep nagging me to upgrade but I think it takes pretty decent photos. I just take photos for my own pleasure and happy to share them here.
  2. View of the OPT and Opera House today with the Grand Princess docked. Loved the Jacarandas in Sydney right now. Photos taken from Circular Quay train station platform this morning.
  3. From the excellent “The People’s House” Sydney Opera House 50th Birthday Exhibition currently on at the Museum of Sydney. Worth a look at this free exhibition if you happen to be in Sydney very soon.
  4. I cannot fathom what you are forced to live through right now but I am thankful that my photos are bringing back fond memories of your time spent here over 5 years ago. I pray that your previous life returns to you, your loved ones and your country.
  5. A few more sculptures that appealed: Tamarama Beach below where the Sculpture Trail ended We managed to grab the last table at the cafe at the beach for a casual lunch to refuel before retracing our walk back to Bondi Beach.
  6. Beautiful day for the annual Sculptures by the Sea on the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama Beach. It wasn’t too hot despite the appearance of this sculpture …. The idea behind this sculpture - a shell with feet - is to encourage people to walk more Look closely at this one for the lips & chin Beautiful colours Everyone of these New Zealand Statues were wearing a Māori necklace. Sculpture titled “protection” Being a regular lap swimmer, I think @dani negreanu will appreciate this one titled “The Swimmer” This was made entirely of plastic caps from plastic drink bottles
  7. Happy 50th Birthday to your son. Are you able to celebrate with him? October is a very popular month for birthdays 🎉
  8. Good morning. Sorry for those of you experiencing rain & possible snow. Beautiful sunny Saturday in Sydney. Jacarandas are in bloom right now Ship of the Day - Grand Princess. Let the summer cruising season begin. Photo from the platform from Circular Quay station. You can see how short the walk is to the OPT. Reason we always train it in for cruises that leave from the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Today, off to Bondi Beach. Photos later.
  9. I thought the white on the empty seat was someone sitting behind resting their socked foot there.Hence my tongue in cheek post. On closer inspection it is a lady’s white clutch. I need to get my eyes checked. I apologise to any offence caused to Azeena & J & L.
  10. I wonder what the staff to kids ratio is on Disney compared to other lines especially for the under 10s, given they are charged gratuities.
  11. I love high tea but even as an adult I would opt out at those prices. Would love it if you came back to this post after your cruise to report the positive & negatives. We are not a Disney family but would be very interested to read of your & your family’s experiences on board.
  12. So they have a gap between seats so cruises can rest their socked feet there? Is that a Pinnacle thing? 😜(if J & L are seated in a special area…)
  13. Two family members and 5 of their motorbike friends have just ridden from Sydney to Phillip Island in Melbourne. Phillip Island is a popular day trip from Melbourne to see the evening parade of hundreds of fairy penguins. It is also famous for its MotorGP held in October. The trip from Sydney took two full days of riding with lunch stops at pubs along the way and an overnight in beautiful Bright.
  14. Random photos from my sunset walk with Max yesterday. This guy was planning on joining his friends who were in the tree next door, looking like Christmas ornaments. Got a close up despite Max impatiently tugging on the lead to keep moving Halloween decorations. The creepy figures rotate like a merry go round accompanied by creepy music.
  15. My son was the Easternmost person in Canada for a moment today. After days of rain, the rain has finally stopped in Newfoundland. Cape Spear Lighthouse
  16. + 1 @dani negreanu Hope Jack’s family stay safe & the grandson - I don’t have the right words to say but I offer my prayers to him and all the troops defending Gaza @BonTexasNY
  17. I was on board Carnival Splendour from Sydney to the South Pacific this year and because Isle of Pines and Mare not being open to cruisers, we got two full day visits to Noumea. The Amadee Island ship tour was only available on one of the two Noumea port days (wasn’t available to book on a Sunday). Have been to Amadee twice now and would happily go a third time. So many turtles when snorkeling there this year.
  18. I’ve booked one of two Luminosa cruises that depart Sydney next year. Decided I couldn’t miss the opportunity cruise on her again & not have to fly to Brisbane to board. They are both short cruises though.
  19. Luminosa is a beautiful ship. It’s has a nice layout, easy to get around. The adults only area is the Serenity Deck at the rear of deck 9. Unlike the Splendour, the Luminosa doesn’t have water slides so it doesn’t attract as many families as the Splendour does. Their paid specialty dining venue is Fahrenheit 55 which is popular. If you select “anytime dining” sorry forget the official name, we found the free Carnival Hub app very easy to use to book a table for 2 in the MDR each night at a time to suit us.
  20. DH has re-discovered his holiday mojo. After years of only holidaying in the exact same location, he is now keen for variety. First it was beautiful Noosa. Yesterday, he sent me a link to some lovely cottages at the base of a lighthouse on the NSW coast. We are booking one of the cottages today. Looks like my days of cruising are coming to an end. I started cruising in 2013 because I was bored of holidaying in the same spot every year. With DH being keen to explore more, both my “kids” soon to be living overseas and limited leave as I work full-time, land trips are going to be my focus from now on until we retire.
  21. Even without the ideal weather, I am sure you have a great time with your cc friends & produce another great live from report for us all to enjoy.
