  1. Good evening, after a cold & windy start to Sunday, it turned out to be a magic day in Manly to walk from Queenscliff to Shelley Beach and back in the sunshine.
  2. Thank you. We are on the North Shore (suburbs North of the Sydney Harbour Bridge). Plenty of bush here. We are a bit further out than you - takes about 40 mins to get to the city but it’s an easy drive. I actually prefer to take public transport (clean, safe & reliable) for daytime weekend visits to the city whereas DH prefers we drive part the way in, park for free , then commute the remainder. For evening events at the theatre & the Opera House, we drive straight to the harbour side suburb of Kirribilli, park for free and catch the ferry that goes under the harbour bridge and across to Circular Quay - this saves us from using parking stations/fees in the city and who doesn’t want a sunset ferry & then return night time ferry ride across the harbour? DH will often get off at Kirribilli on his morning commute and then walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for exercise as he works in the vicinity of Circular Quay. Takes him 20mins to walk across the bridge. I grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney so we spend alot of time there. Takes us approx 40mins to drive to the beach. Again, it’s an easy drive. Our favourite beaches are Long Reef, Palm Beach and Manly. Bushwalks - as you would have noticed we are fortunate to have a myriad of choices - on the North Shore, on the Northern Beaches and the ones we love by the harbour. I can recommend being a tourist in your own city. I hope you follow our lead and if you do, would love to see you post photos of areas you explore in Boston.
  3. Good morning, another beautiful Saturday in Sydney. Spent the morning in bed finishing Matthew Perry’s memoir “Friends, lovers & the big terrible thing”. After lunch, we did the 4km Blue Gum loop walk in Hornsby, north of Sydney. The blue gum forest we walked through was beautiful as were the streams we walked past. Very tranquil walk. Plenty of rock stairs and a bit of rock scrambling meant we got a good workout too.
  4. What an interesting place to stay. Your meal choices sound delicious. Love the flash of lightning at the start of your video. Many thanks for the review. Hope your daughter & friends have a fun weekend.
  5. I am pretty sure that I visited here as a child but I wouldn’t have appreciated the gardens at the time. Putting this on my list for a future visit especially as it’s easy to get to via public transport. Love your new swing seat too.
  6. Good morning. Another beautiful day in Sydney. Kalkari Discovery Centre at Ku-ring-Gai Chase National Park, north of Sydney. And another nice day for hiking in Waterton, Alberta courtesy of DS.
  7. DS visited Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier NP today. They did a four hour hike today but thankfully they didn’t come across any grizzlies whilst hiking.
  8. @mo&fran I am sorry to read of your diagnosis and wish you well for successful treatment. The details of your treatment options are interesting to read. Thank you for sharing. @h20skibum I hope Susan’s headaches and reactions have abated now and she can continue to enjoy the family outings you have organised.
  9. I had to look up Kohlrabi as I hadn’t heard of it. How do you cook/eat it? Enough homemade pizza sauce from your garden for 21 pizzas sounds superb. Your garden certainly is flourishing.
  10. Where we parked our car at the beach is an unofficial parking area for where car owners advertise their second hand cars for sale. This one was parked behind ours. “Ideal camper/motor home”. Imagine doing a round trip around Australia in this.
  11. Good afternoon, we have been blessed with beautiful weekend weather in June and it has continued into July. A lovely Sunday to take Max out for a few hours. Last night we were at dinner, followed by the theatre. BIL and I managed to polish off one of these tiramisus each, hence the need for a walk today.
  12. I am sure you all get stick insects in your gardens. I snapped a photo of this one because I haven’t seen one this big for quite a while.
  13. Harry puts on a great show. Hope her love of music is a source of comfort to your granddaughter and my thoughts are with you all as you continue to grieve your son-in-law. Has your daughter considered seeing a grief counsellor? I only mention it because my best friend has started seeing one (took a few attempts to find one that was a good fit) and she is finding the visits helpful as her and her husband struggle with their grief.
  14. Embarrassed to admit that it took longer that it should to work this out. I was doing a mental stocktake in my head of who had dogs in this group…Thinking it’s not Greg, it’s not Sue, it’s not… and I then I started picturing everyone’s beautiful cats and finally i returned back to the clue - DOG, as in one very special dog, and I went 🤦‍♀️
  15. Beautiful place. Can understand why it’s one of your favourites. Visited in summer & winter. Winter is beautiful but brrr.
  16. @h20skibum that was a scary text to receive from your son. You will be relieved to have him back home from Paris.
  17. Last weekend, we saw “The Mousetrap”. Packed out Theatre on all 3 levels. It had a great set and the Australian actors with their English accents were good but I really wish I had seen it at a West End theatre on one of my prior visits to London.
