  1. Sculpture by the Sea is the only time I go to Bondi and try to arrange to go most years. My favourite sculptures are the ones that you look through with the ocean backdrop.
  2. It’s lovely walk & some of the artworks along the way: There was an old Chinese man waiting for the perfect opportunity for a photo of himself posing in the middle of the hook. He approached us and was very happy with the 3 photos I took of him.
  3. Saturday here in Sydney. We headed off to Sculptures by the Sea, an annual event, that hasn’t been held for 2 years due to you know what. If you’ve been to Sydney and done very popular Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, then Sculptures by the Sea is held in the first section of that walk from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach. Bondi Beach: The walk starts at Icebergs Bondi. On the way in, a friend was giving me live updates on the house auction she was attending, so this Art installation was appropriate…
  4. 😳 pass on that. Re Mystery Island - one of the cruises from Sydney this summer has an itinerary change and is stopping there twice. Cruisers are complaining because there is nothing to do. I would love to have the option to snorkel there twice in one cruise.
  5. Great photo of the trigger fish. Had one of those fish act very aggressively towards my face whilst snorkeling in waters around Mystery Island in the South Pacific. Only way to get away from him was to get out of the water and walk further down the beach and then enter the water. Sorry it actually attacked you and drew blood. Nasty.
  6. We haven’t stayed there yet but have a look at Kingsford Smith hotel - they do a shuttle to the new cruise port
  7. I am travelling on Luminosa with my daughter but the solo cabins were so cheap when I booked (not this cheap though) I booked one for each of us. I am regretting booking flights with Jetstar and only the day before. Think I should have booked 2 days before….backup train sounds like a good option but shame you have to consider it.
  8. Check direct with Carnival Australia and tick the box for over 55 (if it applies) and see what comes up for their Nov & Dec 2022 cruises
  9. Agree re cost of flights but if you live interstate and get this offer, would be worth considering if you have family/friends in QLD you want to visit and enough leave to do the cruise & tie in a visit at the same time.
  10. VIFP offer via email to those lucky to receive - 20th Nov - 11 nights to NZ - $250pp with $500 OBC from Brisbane on Carnival Luminosa in guarantee balcony. Carnival really are struggling to fill this ship.
  11. Definitely good value compared to Carnival: Carnival Australia beverage package is $119pp, per day. Their internet packages range from $15-$25pp per day.
  12. When I arrived at work this morning, my loyal to Royal colleague excitedly showed me that her and her partner have set up the harbour cam on their computers to watch Ovation sail into Sydney Harbour for the start of Ovation’s Australian summer season (with Renee on board of course). They will be sailing on Ovation to the South Pacific in a couple of weeks time and then again to New Zealand at the end of our season.
  13. Casual dinner with DH in Kirribilli after work tonight. We shared a pizza and risotto. Portions look small compared to the usual food photos shared in this group. We are not big eaters though so they are ideal for us and for a tiny pizza/pasta place, the food was very tasty. We then strolled down to the harbour front as I knew the Majestic Princess was due to depart. Then a very pleasant walk around the lovely residential streets of Kirribilli on the way to the Theatre. In two week’s time they will be a blaze of purple flowers. McDougall Street where the Theatre is located is particularly well known for its avenue of flowering Jacaranda trees in early November. Despite the threat of rain we only had a few sprinkles and it was a pleasant 20C on our walk. On the drive home, after the 2.45hr play, the rain set in.
  14. Think I’ve got middle aged brain fog (is that a thing?). Late in the afternoon, I had to instruct a colleague on a task. Told him he can do it on Monday. He said I can do it tomorrow and I said, no Monday is fine. He asked me again and I’m thinking why is he working on a Saturday? Then as I am leaving I said to my colleague, have a great weekend. She said aren’t you in tomorrow? I said, Saturday, no way. She said tomorrow is Friday 🤦‍♀️ In my defence work is hectic and I’ve been out 3 nights in a row.
  15. Their speed was the first thing I noticed. They didn’t fly through gaps though but they kept flipping themselves like pancakes. They fly with their arms outstretched- what happens if they get a sudden itch and need to scratch, how does that affect their aerodynamics?
  16. I’ve got a possum wool scarf from NZ. Can confirm warmth & lightness although haven’t worn it in subzero temps…
