  1. Definitely felt like I was reading a LIVE review. Stunning photos throughout. Thanks Greg.
  2. Had a light meal before the movie last night at Grilld. It’s licensed so I ordered a glass of wine. Young waitress comes over very apologetic. Manager is on a break off premises. There is no-one on site over 18 to pour the wine (legal requirement). I said no probs. We had almost finished eating, wine not arrived. Son checks the traffic app and there is a 3 car pile up on the approach to the bridge we need to cross to get to the cinema. Have to leave now. Same time Manager appears very apologetic with wine. What to do. Son says I need to skull it. Not happening. We don’t want to wait around getting a refund. So, i have an idea. I tip out my water bottle. Pour the glass of wine in the water bottle and off we go. Sipping the wine from the water bottle felt weird but at least the wine wasn’t wasted and thankfully the accident was quickly cleared (thankfully no injuries for it be cleared so quickly).
  3. Lovely to have a full cinema (a rarity these days) for the Jaws retro screening & the adjacent cinema was doing a Twilight marathon so the candy bar was doing a roaring trade in popcorn and other snacks.
  4. WFH part-time is wonderful for so many especially new parents. Lovely to hear baby Theo is doing well and an easy baby for your son & DIL.
  5. Hubby just scored free tickets to the Rugby League Grand Final that is on in Sydney tonight at the Accor Stadium. He’s very happy. Son & I are visiting Dad this afternoon long before the Grand Final starts because trying to have a conversation with Dad whilst he has the Rugby League on at high volume is a migraine inducing experience.
  6. Saw photos of the Carnival boarding queue. Stretched all the way back to the train station. Hubby has just scored free tickets to today’s Rugby League Grand Final. So he’s happy. Could be a wet game for those in the open stands or they could get sunburn. Weather changes by the hour in Sydney atm.
  7. Pre-pandemic they did. I will be on board Carnival before you will. If they offer the tour, I’ll do it because my daughter hasn’t done it and report back.
  8. Are you asking about Carnival behind the scenes tour? Pretty sure it was in the morning because I went into a food coma after it and fell asleep for 2hrs in the afternoon which I never ever do.
  9. So sorry that you didn’t get to experience the helicopter flight. My son was in Anchorage for a week recently. He was solo and wanted to book a glacier heli flight but the minimum was two. As it turned out, he had atrocious weather for his week there so like your experience, the helicopters flights wouldn’t have gone ahead. At least you made the most of it with your whale cruise.
  10. On my walk back home, I popped into my friend’s place. Co-incidentally it was at the same time her neighbouring property was having its first open for inspection. So in between chats with me, she would periodically wander up to her letterbox (to check out all the potential buyers) At the end of the chat, I said “geez there is a lot of post being delivered on a Saturday”😏. House is going to Auction and owners have hopes of 2.8million. Housing market has dropped in Sydney in the last twelve months. We predict 2.2million.
  11. Today I was car-less. Looked in the pantry and I had no bread or wraps and didn’t feel like soup, so decided to check out the newly opened cafe that is in walking distance in our neighbourhood. Seems to specialise in coffee and has a very limited menu. But nonetheless I ordered from the single staff member. He said 15-20mins for your lunch. I wasn’t in a hurry so said no probs. Coffee came quickly and I leisurely read the paper. In this time the staff member served one customer and spent the rest of the time on his phone. After reading the paper twice, I notice a chef arrive with a bag of groceries. He proceeds to cook and serve up my lunch. Which was delicious and worth the wait. Clearly this is a”on demand limited menu” No sure how long this cafe will last though if they are surviving on mainly coffees.
  12. In my 2Os I did the triple treat of helicopter flight, then jet boat and then white water rafting in New Zealand. It was fabulous. Couple of years back, did a helicopter flight over Kings Canyon. I enjoyed it but I’ve decided helicopters just feel too flimsy for me now. We flew in a light plane over Kakadu last year and I was much more comfortable in that and it was a fabulous scenic flight.
  13. Or they can walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Short walk from the end of walking across the Bridge to The Ensemble.
  14. The newly renovated Concert Hall is a beautiful venue. Got a chance to sit in it a fortnight ago during a OH tour.
  15. Queen’s Birthday weekend here with a 3 day long weekend. Daylight Savings for us in NSW and some other states, starts tonight (not WA, NT or QLD).We have a wet weekend forecast so good weekend to go the movies. Son and I are seeing this on the big screen at a retro special screening: After I agreed to see it with him I thought - probably not a good idea since we are heading into Summer and I will soon be swimming in the Great Barrier Reef…
  16. The only other port they have on their itinerary is Noumea. Hope they let Royal in but we will have to wait & see.
  17. Ovation departing Sydney on 16 Nov has an overnight at Vila (19/20 Nov) Will Vila be open to Royal by then?
  18. Just curious- does anyone know if Airlie Beach & Port Douglas will be tendered for this ship? Thanks
  19. Another newbie question please - do you need to get to the theatre early or are there plenty of seats? And what are the main shows on the Coral right now? Thanks
