  1. Even with Princess one thing you have to be aware of is if you are browsing excursions in general, ie not from within an actual booking, the prices are USD. You only see AUD if you're looking at booking excursions on an Australian region cruise which, luckily, does include the Australian world cruise. I discovered that when I was running a budget to see what the world cruise would cost before I booked it. I could only see the AUD prices once I had the booking.
  2. Most cruise lines operate systems where you can buy your cruise in local currency - AUD, CAD, GBP, EUR etc but the standard is that the majority of cruise ships operate in USD. I think we are the only exception with the three cruise lines mentioned above operating in AUD. Aren't we lucky? 😊 So since USD is the norm on other lines and in other regions they don't define the currency.
  3. Probably a different sort of tender ie rigid hull inflatables, not closed in like big ship tenders.
  4. I'm fairly certain all costs on HAL are USD. I don't think they switch to AUD when they operate here. Princess, Carnival and P&O Australia are the only major cruise lines that operate in AUD here.
  5. Presumably the first since the restart. I guess tender operations would be of some concern as they are a very confined space.
  6. Nor do we. We have Plans B (Double adaptor) and C (US Adaptor for charger units) as well. Plus I put a printout of the relevant page of the Princess Passage Contract in the Aldi charger bag.
  7. No, I can't open it. Go into the Word document Select All the text, then Copy. Then Paste it here. Check the formatting before submitting it.
  8. You can take a shortcut and cook the lamb shanks for a couple of hours then add in the rest but I find it's less messy doing it in two stages plus I like to sweat out the veges for a bit rather than adding them raw.
  9. Early November I think, after the Round Australia cruise gets back.
  10. I've used it on Princess, Celebrity and Carnival without any issues. Princess terms of service says powerboards without surge protection are permitted.
  11. We took the offer to put our annual policy on hold. I talked to someone there the other week and I can reactivate it at any time so I'm doing that on Friday.
  12. Have you tried InsureAndGo. I think they advertise on the Seniors Card website that they insure people up to age 100. Also they have a Seniors discount.
  13. I've been building up a small collection of kaftans since we started cruising. I buy them on sale. They are superlight to pack and don't crush, although I pack them in tissue to protect them a bit.
  14. Why should it? It looks gorgeous and if you've got the figure to wear something like that then flaunt it! My formalwear is at the opposite end of the scale - full length Camilla kaftans that disguise all my lumps and bumps. 🤣
  15. I haven't tried those. I'll look out for them next time I'm in a soup making mood. I don't think I'll be doing that before our upcoming trip though.
  16. It is very yummy. A great summer dish. Very refreshing.
  17. I've heard that's the case and they probably wouldn't bother converting those to AU sockets. We always carry adaptors and an Aldi powerboard.
  18. The first Round Australia starts from Sydney, with Brisbane as the second embarkation stop. It drops off Sydney passengers first and embarks the first of the first Hawaii/Tahiti passengers with the next stop Brisbane for disembarkation/embarkation. The Hawaii/Tahiti cruise goes via Auckland for disembarkation and embarkation of the first of the world cruisers, then Sydney and Brisbane disembarkations/embarkation. This repeats at the end of the world cruise taking on passengers for the second Hawaii/Tahiti cruise. Then again for the second Round Australia cruise but that cruise doesn't go to Auckland, just Sydney then Brisbane with a Sydney-Brisbane short cruise to fill the cabins vacated by those getting off in Sydney Then the Brisbane summer season starts. It's very clever scheduling in my opinion giving both Australian and NZ passengers the ability to embark and/or disembark at their nearest port.
  19. In that case your son should definitely kick up a big stink about what happened. When a person's health is at risk, be it a child or an adult, being busy is no excuse, especially when the action required would only take a few minutes.
  20. Telling him may not be sufficient. I suggest also giving him a document detailing everything, which also indicates your son has it on file. Spoken words are easily forgotten.
  21. This is the Gazpacho recipe I use. It's from a cookbook, Loukie's Kitchen, by Loukie Werle. My extra fancy twist for special occasions is to put a small pile of crabmeat in the middle of each bowl, then pour the chilled soup around the crab at the table. Very MasterCheffy! 🤣
  22. That's annoying for you. I've had that happen in the past and it's so frustrating. What I do now with things like recipes or long posts is put them into a Word document or something first, then copy and paste into the thread. Sometimes you have to tidy up the formatting though, especially paragraph spacing.
