  1. TBH when I saw HMU, IDK and REKT, I thought *****?
  2. Just read the obit for Rodger Whittaker a very poplar singer in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Most English people will remember him for his song Durham Town. But what I found fascinating is that he was immensely popular in Germany recording 25 albums and in 1985 was the biggest selling German language artist despite not speaking a word of German, he learnt the words phonetically. Who would of thought.
  3. I know a couple who called their dog Rolex, when I asked why Rolex they said because he's a watch dog. He was a lovely little jack russell.
  4. Like you I follow the big tours, what a team Jumbo Visma are, I'm already looking forward to next years Giro
  5. I'm definitely in the lunch camp. Some of our most memorable times together with friends are the long boozy lunches.
  6. Yup, I can imagine that! I suppose I have to ask if they guessed it.
  7. 🤣 suddenly a Rolex looks even better value
  8. I know how you feel, I had mine and my wife's serviced last year - £1600. We went to a watch shop in Switzerland so maybe postage was less! Mind you I bought my wife's one 20 years ago so at circa £800 that's £40 a year running costs.
  9. We were in Djerba recently and visited an area called Djerbahood which was the venue for a street art exhibition some years ago, it was fascinating to wander around and see walls and doors used as a canvas for an eclectic array of artwork.
  10. Yup worked for me. I paid £1000 off our upcoming cruise. Although the TA took the payment it showed as Seabourn on my Amex statement. And the £150 credit was posted underneath.
  11. Even street buskers take contactless payments!
  12. There certainly are a lot here with El jem probably being the jewel. We tend to get a bit blasé after a while. Although Algeria and Libya have their fair share also.
  13. There is enough to see in Tunis and the surrounding areas to give you a rewarding day. French will get you by just fine. If you want to keep it easy there is the Carthage ticket (5 euros ish) which includes entry to 7 attractions in the area, the top one being Les Bains de Antonin (a world heritage site ) also the roman amphitheatre and the roman villa. Sidi Bou Said is nice to wander around and enjoy the views that its position affords, it's all blue and white although there is one yellow door so be on the look out for that. also make sure you eat a bambalouni whilst you are up there you won't regret it. The medina in Tunis is worth a visit but you should really go with a guide as you will get to see and understand so much more (an English speaking guide will cost around TND 200/ 60 euro for a group and last from 2 to 4 hours depending how long you have (I have the name and number of a good guide if you are interested) finish off with a drink or a lunch at the hotel Dar el Jeld rooftop bar https://www.dareljeld.com/gastronomie . A little further afield about 40 mins from Tunis is Oudna (Uthina) one of the oldest Roman colonies in Africa, there is an impressive amphitheatre and the Capitol . If your driver takes the right route you will follow the aqueduct which used to supply the water for Carthage (originally 125 kms ) but still many parts still in tact. 3 hours drive from Tunis is the amphiteatre of El Jem . I think it is/was the 3rd largest amphiteatre ever built. Worth a visit but a bit tight if you have a ship waiting to depart at a set time. If you want to take taxis and explore then download Bolt (similar to uber) it works fine but they take cash only. You should have a great day. I'm here if you have any other questions
  14. Mysty, I took time away from CC but recently I booked an Antarctica cruise with Seabourn so I find myself looking in on both the SS and SB forums. Inevitably I’m drawn to the cooler, your jokes of the day along with the many other funnies are a sure fire way to get the day off to a good start, and JP’s trips are always enjoyable keeping up with. So I for one don't want to see this cooler forum disappearing anytime soon.
  15. Yup can't really argue with that, and I would think some knowledge of the French language would be useful
  16. It's true that cyclones do hit the island from Dec through to Feb/March although generally on the east coast. Being such a large country the weather does vary by region (the west coast is less affected by cyclones) but the general consensus is March/April through to Nov/Dec. Well worth a visit and certainly pretty much unspoilt by mass tourism.
  17. I lived in Madagascar for 4 years and whilst I wouldn't recommend the capital Antananarivo I would without hesitation endorse a visit to the rest of the island. Ponant have some interesting intineries in that region for the dates and duration that you are looking for. Choices of a circumnavigation of Madagascar or mixing it up with visits to Zanzibar and Mauritius https://en.ponant.com/africa-middle-east-indian-ocean-adventure-in-madagascar-ec130124-9
  18. Yup, that makes sense. I'll wait till later in the year to apply for this.
  19. Is a Jan 24 sailing too far out to ask for this credit, ie should I wait until near the time?
  20. First time sailing with Seabourn in Jan 24, if anyone has a referral it will be much appreciated, Thanks. Nick.
  21. Interesting, when I booked from the UK I was told that 10% is non refundable. Although under certain conditions they would allow that 10% to be used against a similar duration voyage .
