  1. Thank you for your wonderful review, @CoffeeGoddess! The Bliss is also one of my favorite NCL ships, too, for some of the same reasons you mention- OL and the District. The entertainers in the District are so much better than the tip hungry piano entertainers in Dueling Pianos on Breakaway and Getaway. I’m so glad to read that you had a great cruise! Thanks for the photos and details. The hat and sword purchase is so funny - I hope you enjoy having both.
  2. Bon voyage, @YVRteacher! I love your reviews and am excited to hear all about your cruise. I appreciate the photos and recommendations in San Diego. Enjoy that first drink. I hope embarkation is smooth and easy.
  3. Thank you, Bird, for another great review! We typically use the jetted areas of the thermal spa the majority of the time when we use the spa pass. Is the pass worth it for the other features? It seems so disappointing compared to the thermal spas on Breakaway and Breakaway Plus class of ships. Are there new spa features offered to compensate for the loss of the jetted areas / bubbles?
  4. I’ll let a solo traveler comment on the cabin decision. Here is a link to the Specialty Dining package add on costs. We do typically pay extra for this every cruise. Once the cruise is booked, there will likely be an option to add 2 SDP meals at a much lower rate than what is listed on this link: https://www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/dining-packages I think you can find lounge chairs in the pool area that are in the shade. If you don’t want to be near the pool, there are comfortable seating areas on the waterfront that may be in the shade and protected by the sun depending on the time of day, side of the ship and sun location. We prefer shaded areas too and have not had any issues finding shaded areas.

  6. They are. They tend to be less desirable than the BA category due to the location on the ship as most except deck 8 are the most forward balcony cabins. That’s why they are priced less than BA. Many of the deck 8 BF cabins are above the the theater. Location, Location, location may matter to some people!
  7. @Let Me Travel! and @janice2348 We have cruised out of Seward two times - most recently this past June. We booked the train on our own from Anchorage after flying in the day or several days prior. If you book the train on your own, it will leave from Anchorage at 6:45am and gets to Seward at 11:20am. If you can fly in earlier, the Major Marine tour in Seward and the town itself with nearby Exit glacier and the Sea Life Center were very much worth it! I think Seward is my favorite cruise port of all due to the beautiful scenery. Have wonderful cruises!
  8. It is very walkable if 1/2 mile isn’t a problem. If you like to have time on the ship like we do, you can arrive to the cruise port at 10:30 or 10:45 and will be among the first of guests to arrive.
  9. We have done this two times in Seward and most recently in June 2022 with both times our stays were at Harbor 360. You can easily walk from Harbor 360 to the cruise port If walking about a half mile with luggage isn’t a problem for you. We got to the cruise port both times at about 10:30am or 10:45am. They started check-in at about 11am. We were able to give our luggage to the porters before 11am. Both times, we were the first two guests to board. The ship will be empty until about 5pm when other guests arrive from the train or other excursions. If you have a bit of time in Seward, we highly recommend Major Marine tours for the day before the cruise.
  10. @JamieLogical thank you for your excellent review! I enjoyed reading all about your experience and the photos. I especially liked you daily drink summary. 😁
  11. @graphicguy Thank you for another great review! Thank you for taking the time to share the details and photos. Have a great last evening and safe travels home.

  13. We were on the Getaway in a 2 bedroom haven suite in September. We do not remember a step into the bathroom. We do remember a step up from the smaller bedroom to the bathroom. The Getaway haven staff are amazing.
  14. We agree! And the breakfasts and lunches at Cagney’s or Moderno’s were fabulous. I think the category was SP and not SJ. We loved this room even though there was no balcony. And the Dawn had the Mexican restaurant Los Lobos which is one of our favorites.
  15. @hrmkr I posted the dailies from the Getaway from a 10 day cruise in September. here is the link
  16. We used eMed in March, June (super slow wifi connection in Seward, Alaska) and recently this month. It is still super easy and the results came to the Navica app as you mentioned.
  17. Sadly, the cruise has ended. We left the Haven at 9:00am and were cleared through customs very quickly by about 9:05am. Love the speed of facial recognition. It was a bit of a hassle to find a cab as there were so many drivers who were Uber drivers or who knows who they were. The drivers said there were road closures due to a UN meeting. We got to LGA by 10am with heavy traffic. Taxi ride was $70. Uber or other drivers quoted a $90 rate. Not being from the area, the ride to and from the airport to the port is always a bit scary but I guess you get used to it if from the area. We feel bad for those getting on today who were expecting to go to Bermuda and Fiona will impact them wherever they go with the expected swells along the East coast. The crew was amazing on this cruise and I know my husband had fun tipping many who did so much to make our cruise so enjoyable. As this was our first experience in the Haven, we enjoyed it so much but will likely go back to Club Balcony cabins again due to pricing. If the price is right for us, we will definitely return. The 360 turn in Bermuda was to recalibrate the compass according to the Captain when asked at a Q and A yesterday. We loved the Captain’s daily “the voice from above” consistent updates with a daily quote and letting us know when it was national cheeseburger day. The was my first “Live from” review as I have appreciated when others did live reviews.
  18. One of the entertainers just said St John is a destination for the next cruise and not Bermuda due to the hurricane. On this cruise, we knew that prices were lower due to it being peak hurricane season. We packed Cold weather clothes knowing a reroute was possible for this time of year.
  19. We are sad the cruise is coming to an end as we sail to New York and woke up to beautiful weather again.
  20. We had a lovely evening on the ship with many different entertainment options again. We know many passengers loved the different theater options including Burn the Floor while others really liked Broadway Unplugged. As we and a packed audience at Sugarcane love Prelude Duo, we enjoyed listening to them for several hours. A favorite set was when they sang a tribute to The Bee Gees. You should not miss this as they are incredibly talented. We hope they get assigned to a venue that holds more people as they do have many fans who saved seats well ahead of the start time. There were no seats remaining with many standing all around Sugarcane.
  21. The skies became overcast just before it was time for sail away. All aboard time was 2:30pm. Two passenger names were called on the intercom system at 2:45pm. We watch as a white taxi pulled up to the port building and the missing passengers emerged from the van and people cheered as they ran towards the ship. The captain reported that we would now be able to depart as we had our missing passengers.
