Selbourne , I don’t know if you already know this but it was a nurse that gave me the tip to stop your glasses from steaming up when wearing a mask because they wear them all day is to put your glasses over / on top of the mask not the mask below your glasses it works for me
I've tried that too and it doesn't work!

C is for CRASH!!
We were having lunch on board the Princess Panhwar river cruise ship as we sailed along the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar when I noticed one of the local cargo boats was getting closer to to the ship. As I watched I could see that it was heading directly towards us so I shouted a warning and all the diners by the windows managed to scramble away just before we were hit! Fortunately, no one was badly hurt although one lady got cut by flying glass.
The captain pulled alongside the river bank where there was a river police booth and the next thing we saw was our captain and several officers in a small boat chasing the cargo boat. The cargo boat captain was arrested and led away in handcuffs.
As it was the last full day of our cruise, we were able to stay on board while repairs were being made in Mandalay but the people who should have boarded for the next cruise were put up in a hotel until the ship was ready.
It was quite scary at the time!!!
What a story to be able to tell! Lucky you saw what was happening and could warn everyone and that nobody was hurt.

As more and more countries are seeing the rise in cases, it may be a while before travel can even resume. I have family in Sicily and the area they are in has gone into lockdown again.

It has been raining most of today in Durham but at least we are still in tier 2 after yesterday's briefing.
I was at the eye hospital in Durham this morning as I have an Epiretinal Membrane with Macular hole in my right eye and the consultant thinks it is ready for an operation.☹️
Hope you don't have to wait too long and it all goes well.

That's 2 cabins sorted then. Only another 1500 to go and their reduced capacity will be reached. Come on folks, first come first served.🤣
Three as Mum has one booked too. Still plenty of room!

I think it is unfair of P&O to say that cancellation is subject to their standard policy, if those conditions are not acceptable to people.

I would go on a cruise to nowhere, I would be quite happy to just sail around and relax on board. It would be good to just get away as I haven't been anywhere since November.

Argh we were really looking forward to seeing this show whilst on Aurora last year but unfortunately the sea was too rough for the performance to take place and it had to be cancelled and it was on the last night as well so was a real letdown!!!!
My husband went to see it's premier as it didn't sound like the sort of thing that would appeal to me. At dinner the other diners persuaded me to go and see it as it was good. I went but couldn't stand the noise and left. It was on again on a different cruise so I decided to give it another try, but the noise level was even worse and I left as the show started.

My view is ban those living areas north of stoke and those south of Watford from cruising and those who are left should be safe to cruise.
What about the West? About twenty more miles and I'll be off the end!!

I went to the local Secondary School as it was then in Middlesex, and could have left school at 15, bt stayed on an extra 2 years and did a secretarial course. Those doing A levels stayed at school to sit their exams - no 6th form college.

Interesting you should say that. We are booked on Iona for July 2021. We booked it to experience Iona not necessarily Norway as we have been there before. If they did pull Iona out of Norway do you think we would still get the opportunity to stay with her as she was the main reason for booking?
Like wise but we rebooked for August.

Reading through this thread has bought back some memories of my school dinners too. I remember having spam fritters, great big rounds covered in batter, and puddings would semolina, sponge covered with jam and coconut on top and not forgetting the pink custard!

We got back from Devon yesterday, had a real mix of weather, wonderfully stormy for a few days but a few sunny days too. I ate way too much and my diet starts tomorrow,
don’t they all?! We did lots of walking too and I got good use out of the waterproof walking boots I had bought for our Norway cruise!
Now back to the mounds of washing
I don’t usually watch Britain’s Got Talent but heard on the radio that they had performances by some west end shows on last night’s programme, including Les Mis which is my favourite, so I watched that bit this afternoon and got quite emotional, made me realise how much I’m missing going to the theatre. One day.....
Sent from my iPad using ForumsI didn't know they had some West End shows on so will try and watch it on catch up.
At the beginning of lockdown we watched some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End shows "The Shows Must Go On" via You Tube. On Friday we re-watched Phantom of the Opera as it was on again. I know we don't go to the theartre very often, especially in London, but I do miss going.

We have most of the large supermarkets, Asda at one end of town and Lidl at the other, both about a mile away. Our nearest Morrisons Sainsburys are in Penzance, while Waitrose is about 20 miles away in Truro. I use Tesco as I have their delivery saver plan and I get discount with them.

Our first cruise was to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. As we had never cruised before we chose a week ashore and then a weeks cruise. Dad liked it so much that he and Mum booked a cruise for the next year, unfortunately he died a few months later so I took his place, and have cruised with Mum of several occasion since.

This applies to me too, and I tend to read more of other people's posts that post my own. I tend to be more seen and not heard, but have been making more contributions than in the past.
