  1. Last cruise my middle name didn't show on my e-ticket so I rang P&O to query it and they said that they had a record of my name and not to worry. I have just checked my CP and my middle is there and also shows on my E-ticket this time!

  2. It was on Britannia last summer and although I wasn't interested in seeing it I was persuaded by other guests who had.  I didn't get to see any of it as the music was so loud for the introduction that I had to get up and walk out.

  3. I have never done Freedom dining as I prefer Club Dining.  It is nice to have the same waiters each evening as they get to know your preferences and you also get to know them.

My mother has an allergy to cheese she is given the menu for the next day to choose what she wants and if necessary any adjustments can be made, which I think would be more difficult with Freedom.

  4. Have been to Copenhagen in December, not with a cruise though, and visited Tivoli Gardens.  Tivoli Gardens is well worth the visit and the Christmas market inside had a  wide variety of things on their stalls.  We spent quite a bit. Don't know if they take cards as we only used cash.  I do know that Denmark is expensive.

  5. I have sailed on Britannia on two occasions and have been on both decks B and D forward and have not been aware of any movement, but like most ships that depends on the weather!  The Crows Nest did get busy in the evenings, but as previously been said, if you get there early.  We also found that the theatre tended to fill up very quickly.  Embarkation was the same as all our previous cruises.

  6. St Petersburg use Red Sun Tours, Elena is wonderful.

Stockholm walk off the ship and buy a combo boat ABBA Museum ticket from the waiting boat reps, costs half what P&O wanted.

Helsinki Tallinn Rostock Skagen Copenhagen easy to do yourself.

We did the Baltic this year and I too would highly recommend Red Sun Tours.

Also doing the Baltic again in July next year.

  7. We are not retired but prefer club dining, late sitting.

I like to get to know our waiters and fellow diners over the course of the cruise.

I like the rapport you build with your waiters and as they get to know you, the extra little touches they add to your experience.

But if freedom dining was all that is available, we would happily go with that.

Think it would be a shame though...

I agree with you. Although I do not relish the thought of sitting down each night to with a different set of dining companions.

  8. I also hate being called a Brit’ as they do in the Horizon newspaper. I am, in company with everybody else on board BRITISH. All P & O need to do now is to get the volume turned down in the venues. I am not deaf!

Having had neurosurgery I have problems with really loud noise. On Britannia this July The Headliners show Astonishing was so bad that I had to get up and walk out before the show had even started!!

  9. Could it be that the choice of free coach transfers to Southampton or extra OBC could sail into the blue yonder

Free coach transfers won't effect me, as we have to travel in the opposite direction to get to a pick up point taking nearly as long as the trip down to Southampton.

  10. Has anyone used a tour group in St Petersburg other than the one provided by the ship .

We are going there next July & I am trying to find a good tour company that is reliable . We did an Eastern Mediterranean last year and I was able to find some very good companys that were cheaper and not as large as the ship excursions .

We too are going next July. Who are you sailing with?

We have just got back from doing a Baltic cruise and used a company called Red Sun Tours (redsun-tours.com) which was organised with a group of us from here. Our tour guide was Elena who owns the company and we had a very good time. It was well organised and she was very informative.

  11. Due to the present situation between Russia and UK do you think P and O will rethink itinerary for Baltic cruises this year?

Good Morning. I am following this post as I am already booked on the Britannia for the Baltic on 24/6/18 and whilst I am not concerned (at the moment) I am hoping that P&O do not decide to amend the itinerary and miss out the port of St Petersburg and actually give the option to cancel/rebook - if the situation becomes more volatile. I appreciate that the terms of cruise bookings does mean that cruise ports can be amended for various reasons, however, the reason for booking the Baltic cruise is the 2 days in St Petersburg with the added bonus of the other very interesting ports. I am very excited about this cruise and hoping all will go ahead.

We too are booked on this cruise and it was booked because of the ports of call, especially St Petersburg, and been looking forward to it since we booked back in April last year. Like a lot of others have been watching the situation with interest.
