I know some of us bicker on here a little sometimes, but it is good to see many of the same names trying to help everybody through regardless. I recall a few weeks ago some of us revealed we had volunteered for vaccine trials. No doubt some have already started, my first appointment is on Friday morning which is quite daunting. Just have to pass the medical checks first!

Not nice down here, raining and misty although still mild, at least the wind has stopped.

 My first cruise was with my family and parent's to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2004 on Ocean Village.  None of us had cruised before and didn't know if we would like it so combined it with a week on land before a weeks cruise. We all enjoyed it. My father enjoyed it so much that they booked another cruise for the next year to go together with some friends, but he died a few months later. I went with my mother instead and have cruised with her on several other occasions. Oceana was our first P&O cruise  in 2012 and have sailed nearly every year since.  I still get that feeling of excitement when I see the ship before we embark! 

Has been nice and sunny down here too, although we have gale force winds. Good day for getting the washing dry, just need to make sure it's pegged on well!

He was one of the few who I saw back in the 70's!

Have just caught up with today's posts.  I too remember seeing Mercury Rising, don't remember when though, and enjoyed the show.  My music tast is very varied to say the least.  Elton John grew up in the estate less than a mile from where we lived - my Mum knew his aunt. I can't say that I've met any pop stars, but have met several sporting personalities when I was working at the BBC.

I read saw an article on google about social distancing.  It was asking what happens if they have oversold cabins to allow for the percentage of occupancy they are allowed to sail at?

I am so sorry to read about you husband, it must have been a shock! At least you know that he didn't suffer, as you said he just went to sleep.

Good to hear he was treated quickly and that there was nothing wrong, although it must have been a very worrying time.

Those last few posts made be feel squeamish.  I've had neurosurgery, but a least for that I was under a general antesthic, I just saw the clips in my head afterwards!

This applies to me too, and I tend to read more of other people's posts that post my own.  I tend to be more seen and not heard, but have been making more contributions than in the past.

We were having lunch on board the Princess Panhwar river cruise ship as we sailed along the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar when I noticed one of the local cargo boats was getting closer to to the ship. As I watched I could see that it was heading directly towards us so I shouted a warning and all the diners by the windows managed to scramble away just before we were hit! Fortunately, no one was badly hurt although one lady got cut by flying glass.

The captain pulled alongside the river bank where there was a river police booth and the next thing we saw was our captain and several officers in a small boat chasing the cargo boat. The cargo boat captain was arrested and led away in handcuffs.

As it was the last full day of our cruise, we were able to stay on board while repairs were being made in Mandalay but the people who should have boarded for the next cruise were put up in a hotel until the ship was ready.

It was quite scary at the time!!!

 

 

 

 

 

What a story to be able to tell!  Lucky you saw what was happening and could warn everyone and that nobody was hurt.

As more and more countries are seeing the rise in cases, it may be a while before travel can even resume.  I have family in Sicily and the area they are in has gone into lockdown again.
