  1. Includes vs. Classic, or includes period? Not sure which way you're asking it. In either case, I'd expect it's one of the ways that Celebrity goes about justifying the high differential in $ per square foot for suite pricing, assuming someone might say, "Yeah, it's expensive, but I get..."
  2. Had an odd thing happen on our last cruise. Got the survey for the ship, but after completing that, for shorex, we were then redirected to different url that wouldn't allow for actually doing the shorex survey. So they never did get our opinion of the shorex.
  3. I've received them as well for our 10/31, but there are only two cabins we could possibly 'Move Up' to, and they've both been booked since early last year. I don't take these offers as any kind of sure indication that cabins offered are actually available at the time of the email. Often, I think the emails are sent to just to get bids to assure they can back-fill in the event of a cancellation.
  4. What the heck does any of that have to do with internet speed aboard a ship, anyway?
  5. The ISS averages ~400km altitude. The Starlink constellation is ~550km altitude. Unclear where the potential exists for direct conflict there. NASA and Starlink also have an agreement to reposition Starlink satellites that pose any threat to other NASA assets. The astronomers have a better cause for complaint, though the top asteroid hunters know how to separate out the fields in their image analysis.
  6. That's one of several possible reasons, one of the more common being their use as an 'invisibility cloak'. There's plenty of speculation as to what motivates folks to do this. There's also a dearth of actual study on the reasons people have for wearing masks in situations, especially alone and outdoors, that clearly don't call for them.
  7. Ah, a bit of a 'price match'. Good negotiating there. From what you said, it sounded like you were collecting from a TA and getting Celebrity to match that amount!
  8. Cruise line pays or is it the agency the crewmember hired on through that foots the airfare?
  9. First question I had as well. Have never heard of this EXCEPT on those occasions where Celebrity is providing additional promo OBC through a TA. Haven't seen that in a while, and it wasn't a 'match'.
  10. Cruise Critic has never been known as a "safe space".
  11. Not sure where one would be that is more than a two day travel to Rome, but in such case, there are still options for both in person and proctored self tests before boarding. I'm on one of the WB TAs as well, and have plans in place to test while in Barcelona. Yes, it would be nice not to have to deal with it this way, but I suspect nothing in this protocol will change this month.

  13. I think there is some confusion by some about Starlink. Unlike some previously used shipboard systems that used a geostationary belt of satellites around the equator, Starlink's satellites are all in constant motion in their own orbits around the Earth. Which satellite is closest to you in a given moment is constantly changing. Unless you're IN Ukraine, all the dishes you could possibly place there have zero impact on your throughput if you're somewhere else being served by different satellites and ground stations.
  14. Just elaborating on @SusieAV8R 's list of best practices. If someone wants to go the mask route with any expectation of actually minimizing exposure, each item is important. I'd add to that list by noting that the mask must be tightly fitted. If normal breathing isn't causing the material to flex in and out, it probably has gaps that defeat the purpose. As for us, we mask nowhere that it isn't required. So you're preaching to the wrong audience. Understanding their proper use in order to be effective doesn't imply a belief that masks are always necessary.
  15. By not doing so in the company of others. Seems pretty obvious.
  16. Yes, we did. Glassed in area above on Equinox, maiden voyage TA back to the US some years ago.
  17. The view down on an S class is pretty cool - you can't touch them, but you can definitely see them. Thems some BIG diesels!
  18. Providing a snooze in the sea air isn't the objective. A chair is a chair when it comes to that.
  19. Hardly. Just someone with a necessarily intimate understanding of the technology, and no financial stake in it. If you have contrary data, please elaborate.
  20. Ukraine can only use what's above them, which represents a VERY small portion of the existing constellation. You can't SEE most of them from Ukraine, much less tap the capacity of what you can't see. Beyond that, how can you possibly judge the end product when only 8% of the planned number of Gen2 satellites are up yet?
  21. He's promised about 12X the number of birds currently in the constellation, and being in low Earth orbit, each covers a fairly small geographic area. DOES take a while to deliver on 30,000 of them. Launching 30,000 of anything into low earth orbit isn't a trivial exercise, and they're on schedule. About 2,500 of them as of last week. Until there are enough to provide contiguous geographic coverage, good service can't be available at all times/places.
  22. Oops... add one Summit corner in Alaska to that list. The 270° views from the railing were amazing.
  23. Have sailed in corner FVs on both Infinity and Constellation. Great spaces! Wind no special issue, and never felt the "bathtub" to be an issue for view. Best, you can have sun or shade, exposure or privacy thanks to the overhead configuration. You'll also get 50% more closet space, even compared to the inboard FVs. We used to select sail dates based upon their availability.
