  1. Yes, as far as I know it has been banned (and ignored) for many years. It gets down to the people not doing the right thing and staff being unwilling to enforce rules. (I can understand their reluctance following the responses from some re masks, vaccinations etc)
  2. Agree pretty well with your summation. I would only consider P&O at the right price. Generally P&O is much cheaper than Princess. It's a bit like Jetstar and Qantas. If you want a basic, no frills cruise then P&O works for me.
  3. No, I think the same. I feel everyone is forgetting just how much the packages were previously (and still are for many other lines). I don't get the package simply because I feel it's unhealthy for me.
  4. Thanks for posting this report. I was booked on this cruise but ended up cancelling because we had symptoms prior and were nervous of a 13 day cruise after the last one to NZ. Have you noticed many other cases? tables outside rooms?
  5. What a good idea. The ship could easily provide a dated card with your name to be photographed with RAT test. I feel that the requirements on the Grand are not good enough.
  6. I was supposed to be on that cruise too, but got scared by the last NZ cruise and we had symptoms (ended up negative on RATs) so we cancelled. Hope the anti virals are as effective as reported and you recover soon.
  7. Agree, I hate the whole tipping culture, it's so demeaning.
  8. Just saw this and did a quick search of the media this morning. It's disappointing at just how lazy they have all become. All quoting the magic number of 800 as though it was a fact.
  9. I embarked at Sydney on Carnival recently and did my RAT test with photo. I wasn't asked about it at registration nor had to show my photo although I did hear the lady next to me being asked. She just said yes she had tested negative, she wasn't asked for proof.
  10. I just had a look at the policy and it also mentions payment of gratuities in $US which can be pre-paid or will be added to their account on the second to last day of the cruise. This is not legal in Australia. I'm positive it is a cut and paste from the US.
  11. Australian consumer law stipulates that the price you pay HAS to be the complete price, no extras or add-ons (including GST).
  12. I have to agree. It's been getting a bit tiresome.
