  1. Will the 2025 Summit use the Old Locks? I can't seem to find this specific info. Did the Millie use the Old Locks? THANKS
  2. Agree - Keep the SV and do some specialty dining.... Just got of the Silhouette yesterday and miss the SV already πŸ™‚
  3. I would discourage you from going to Pigeon Point - particurlary if your cruise ship has an excursion going there. It is simply not big enough to handle the crowd a cruise ship will bring to it.
  4. The Chocolate SPice Cultural Experience was to a little chocolate maker - Tri Island Chocolate. The two small Maxi Buses were jammed full. It was 1/2 hour ride to and from the little chocolate maker. This is a small (fairly new) business and their story is very entrepreneurial. It's a cute little tour with some local dancing, spice walk, and chocolate tasting. Once again a more expensive and lengthier Spice/Food tour was offered and in hindsight maybe we should have booked that one ...
  5. I'm not sure where you got the idea of taking a celebrity excursion would be less crowded.... If I led you to that conclusion, please forgive me - it's exactly the opposite. PS - our ships excursion to Pigeon Point Beach was Very Crowded. Turns out there were so many complaints about this excursion that our money has been refunded. Haven't actually seen the refund yet, but a note on the door with the advice that we should expect a refund. Reasons for the refund (although not stated) were obvious... Beach was oversold. Very crowded. It is a public beach and although there were some locals, it was 98% Celebrity Guests. Umbrellas were gone by the time we got there and we were in the meeting line at our appointed tim The line to get a $5 chair was another long wait. The surf was very rough and although the red flags were out , the local lifeguards were mostly just socializing with one another. Many people were roughed up by the sea.
  6. Part of why we travel is to visit the destination but also understand to just relax maybe is preferred. Also these island people rely on tourist spending (jmo)
  7. MDR on πŸ¦ƒ day was best πŸ¦ƒday meal we've had on πŸ¦ƒday on a ship. Also We were pleased again last night in MDR. Going casual tonite in OVC after a long beach day and a few margaritas in craft social watching college 🏈 when we returned to the 🚒 Point is...MDR is 😊. We are thinking we will have less specialty dining on future cruises - it's just too much food for us @ the elevates to price. Will report back in a venture to OVC for food tonight 😜
  8. We proceeded to Pigeon Point Beach in several buses this morning at 10:30a. By the time we got to the beach, all umbrellas were gone and choice locations for chairs were less than ideal. That said, our location turned out just fine. The very northern point of Pigeon Point is where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet on this island so the currents are fairly strong. When you get to the beach head south toward the small pier - it is the best place to put your chair if you want full sun and loud music (and the best section of beach). The northern side is a little steeper and less level area. Tip - don't place your chair on any hilly sandy area. You will surely get wiped out from the lapping waves. Place your chair on a level area. This beach was packed with Cruise Ship passengers. A few local families, but mainly what seemed to be a thousand ships passengers. It was busy but not to point of unacceptable. Today the surf was strong and the red flags were out. It didn't keep people out of the water, but several people took hard spills, twisting ankles and scraping legs. It was the strong waves and I witnessed at least a dozen (probably closer to 2 dozen) spills including one for myself althought no worse for the wear. We shared a $20 shrimp, 2 sides, + salad meal and it was plenty for 2. I think we each drank 3 Carib beers @ $3 each. Chairs $5 ea. Same with umbrella, but we didn't need one as the north side has plenty of trees for shade. In terms of security , I'd say I didn't feel unsafe at any time. There was much more a police presence at Fort Lauderdale Cruise port compared to a very quiet port here. If you are a bit more adventourus, you might consider going to this beach on your own using public transportation. There were no incidents of any kind that I'm aware of. If I had to do it again I would choose the more expensive Celebrity beach excursion option even though it was shorter time as it likely would not be as crowded. πŸ˜€ This is a very nice English speaking island and I wouldn't hesitate to return, but wouldn't choose it as a destination over the many other options.
  9. Our first 2 post covid cruises were in SS. (these are S class sailings) We quickly found we did not care for Luminae and didn't use the Retreat lounge and the Retreat sundeck was actually more busy than the pool deck (all suites were 100% sold - the rest of the ship about 20%). Our last 2 cruises we've found our SV + Prem Drink Package + 6 night (out of 10) specialty dining was still much less than SS. We like the vibe at Craft Social + Martini bar vs Retreat. And the pool deck works for us vs Retreat sundeck. The Cabin size of SS is the ony thing we really miss and we make do with the SV. And now with XPass you can get those other little perks too if you want. We may try the Suite Life again down the road, but for now we'll be in an SV.
  10. We arrived @ the Port of Scarborough this morning and the locals are putting on quite a show at the dock and the buses are aplenty. The island music has been non-stop since we arrived. We will be doing a beach excursion to Club Pigeon Point offered by Celebrity...
  11. There are not plenty. Get one that has USB and and power .. like this one
  12. No signs of Christmas decorations. Last year on a similar thanksgiving itinerary they did decorate a bit before we disembarked. Seems they will wait for the next leg to start the deco
  13. PS - (St Maarten) We split a chicken Roti and drank the local beer SXM from a 'shack' near the back of the port shopping area. recommend to experience the spicy island flavor πŸ™‚
  14. We have had great luck with servers in the martini bar and craft social. They staff up when they expect busy and move staff around to other areas of the ship based on their 'expected' crowds. Thanksgiving day football in Craft Social and every seat was in use. You could see the extra servers arriving as the need went up. Silouhette staff has been awesome considering they are short staffed and possibly over worked.
  15. We are currently on Silhouette in a SV. There is a generous bottle of lotion in cabin. We find the retreat lounge useful for debarkation of if needing a retreat host for something. We also don't find Luminae or Retreat Sundeck to our liking. We are more martini bar, craft social, pool deck and excursion 'people', so we save the $ and book the SV. We are also now rethinking specialty dining as we have a 6 night package on this cruise and have enjoyed MDR just as much. Will make a decision on future cruise specialty dining at the end of this cruise.
  16. Thanksgiving Day we did a catamaran, snorkel, beach excursion and it rained quite a bit.. We did get full snorkel and beach times without too much rain and most of the rain while on the catamaran between stops. Came back and watched Lions lose to the Packers while sipping margherita's at Craft Social - be sure to ordered the premium margherita if on a package - soooo much better. We had a 'traditional' thanksgiving dinner in the MDR. It was very good. Nice presentation and tasted like traditional seaonings. Apple pie and Pecan pie for dessert. It's now Black Friday so let's go get those deals πŸ™‚ We are on a Fun Bus to Pigeon Point today and forecast is for clear skies and 85*F. I can't complain about anything and I can say our cabin attendant (we are in an SV) has been outstanding. He has delivered ice twice daily and otherwise has worked around our comings and goings to keep the cabin cleaned for us. And he did respond quickly to fixing the partition between our veranda and the adjoining cabin.
  17. They are advertising so my guess is yes
  18. PS. I prefer ketel over goose so even happier. 🀠
  19. We're having a great time now .. just back from silent disco. That and the earlier martini bar vibe is what we look forπŸ˜€
  20. Watching this We are on Silhouette now. No problem with bugs (so far) πŸ˜•
  21. In general.... She's a fine ship. If there is something more specific you'd like to know about I'll be posting as long as the internet remains solid....
  22. I did say out loud... I think this is the latest we've ever had our luggage delivered... Planned ahead and had everything we needed for an afternoon poolside so not a big deal. Day 2. The internet has been solid. Pool deck and sunset bar area very breezy today. The ship is rockin and rollin to our first port of call (st maarten) on πŸ¦ƒ day. OVC was fine for breakfast and lunch today as we are just decompressing day 1. Great margaritas in craft social. Tuscon tonite.
