  1. If you opt to dine with others you should have more times available
  2. Anyone familiar with the Carillon Miami Resort? Was "assigned" this hotel for an upcoming pre-cruise stay.
  3. Yes - cruised on Splendor in July. Riesling is DW drink of choice. Was always available
  4. We flew w/Regent business class tickets in Jul and had lounge access in every location
  5. We chatted briefly before about Guam - you hit the nail on the head. Lived there for 3 years. Had to run A/C 24/7 or water would bead up on furniture. Use to lose 7-10 lbs in a single softball game. But - was my favorite location in a 25-year Navy career.
  6. Has anyone stayed at the Carillon Wellness Resort in Miami Beach? We have been assigned to that one for Feb 23 cruise
  7. Has anyone stayed at the Carillon Wellness Resort in Miami Beach? Look like that is where we will be heading in Feb
  8. On the Splendor in July. After evading covid for over 2 years - 9 days into our first cruise - we tested positive and were quarantined for 5 days. Regent took very good care of us. We enjoyed 5 4 days after quarantined and can say we really enjoyed the cruise. Of course would rather not have been quarantined but.... We will be cruising again in Nov and then in Feb '23
  9. Same experience on the Splendor in July. Charged for the medication and nothing else. Good treatment received from Regent.
  10. I will be embarking Mariner in Lima. Don't think we will have full number of passengers. The Splendor in July certainly was not full.
  11. Sad to think that some would contract covid but not report it or quarantine. I do believe this happens however. My DW and I became ill on a recent cruise. We self tested and tested positive. We reported it and spent 5 days in quarantine. Regent treated us very well and we still had an enjoyable cruise. I would like to think that passengers would show some respect for their fellow travelers but sadly, that is not the world we live in today.
  12. Glad you are enjoying. We were on Splendor just a couple of weeks ago. Don't know where you are staying - but - we were in 725. If you are close by and run into Jonnell (cabin steward) give him our best. He took good care of us.
  13. Feel like I need to jump in and offer some observations. First, we all need to understand that each of us have a risk tolerance, usually supported by personal experiences. We need to accept that and make our own choices. DW and I recently completed a cruise where everyone was "reportedly" vaccinated and had to test negative to get on-board. We wore masks most of the time and tried to observe recommended precautions. Looking back - can see where we "let our guard down" now and then. So - we contracted covid and was quarantined. We were treated extremely well by Regent - to include receiving paxlovid. Upon returning home, we were some of the 10-15% to experience a rebound from the medication and went through it again. Both times, relatively mild symptoms. We are quite aware that different people are impacted differently by the illness. We also know that when we go to a store, a restaurant, etc. - there is no way of knowing who is vaccinated and who is not. We all have our thoughts as to why some people will not get vaccinated or choose not to wear masks. Again, we have to accept. For us - we have missed out on about 2.5 years of our lives and we are not getting any younger. At this point - we have 4 more cruises booked over the next couple of years and plan on going on all of them. We plan to get any/all boosters made available. We plan to try and be careful when we are out and about. And we will do our best to accept the decisions made by others. Happy cruising.
  14. Recently completed an 18 day cruise on Splendor. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip - despite being quarantined for 5 days with covid. Not what we had hoped for but had a good 9 nine days prior to and some good days after the quarantine. Regent's medical staff took good care of us. As did the "room service" staff. Really did not experience the "post covid" problems some encountered. In the 18 days recall one instance that a drink order was a bit slow in arriving - but we survived. Looking forward to our next cruise in Nov. Speaking of people wanting to get out and cruise and what they think of Regent - meet a couple who were on their 16th Regent cruise and have another 8 booked. Sincerely think the cruising experience will continue to improve - the getting to and from points of embarkation/debarkation may take a bit longer.
  15. My experience has been ( working thru TA), is getting the polic6 righ5away to lock in pre existing, but only insure your deposit amount. Insure entire trip once final payment is made.
  16. IMHO, apples and oranges. The. Effort going into operating a hotel is a bit different than operating a very large hotel hat floats around the world. Let’s be patient and understand. We do have options on where, when, and how we spend our money. I am currently into my third day of an 18 day cruise. While all is not “perfect”, I am enjoying 5he cruise. Staff has been exceptional.
  17. Likewise, rooting for them. Doing our part with 4 more cruises booked in next two years. Now on our first full day aboard Splendor - the one sea day on this trip. All is well - in my opinion - so far.
  18. Am late to this party - been traveling to our first Regent cruise in 4 years. Most everything has been said and in some cases better than I could. First to UUNetbill - bravo for putting it out there. Was past due. I will admit that I am a “glass half full person” but still find it difficult to understand the sense of entitlement displayed by some of our fellow passengers. Do we all want value for our money. Absolutely! Do I think Regent is just trying to cut corners, save money, etc? Absolutely not? I will be getting on a Regent boat in a few hours - first time since 2018. I fully expect to thoroughly enjoy myself. If not, I will advise. Meanwhile, let’s all continue to expect the most out of the life we have left while at the same time being patient and tolerant of those around us. And while we are at it, let’s think good thoughts for those that have real problems.
  19. In Guam for "pleasure" ? Spent 3 years there - loved it!!
  20. Tks coljack - been second guessing our choices. Were going to take the 8-hour overland ride from Hellesylt to Geiranger but think we may reconsider.
  21. We are in Indian Land, SC - just 6 miles south of NC line. Looking forward to our cruise in a couple of weeks.
  22. Will be on the Jul 8 Copenhagen-Stockholm, looking forward to it. Has anyone taken the "Overland Tour to Geirangert" (out of HHellesylt) ? Comments?
  23. Perhaps things are improving. I just checked in and did not encounter any difficulties. Accepted state on first try. Just waiting for the boarding pass. I did note that there was just one "choice" of boarding times.
