  1. I too am disappointed and agree with those that enjoyed it and will miss it. For those that didn’t care for it, and they have every right not to - I will just say that 2 of the last 3 cruises served dinner at the pool grill. I never experienced ANY of the problems finding a seat, never saw them run out of food, and the fact that “seating was hard to come by” means someone enjoyed it. It was a great place to eat when returning from a late excursion for those that just did not want to bother dressing up that evening.
  2. I “promise” this will be the last I intrude uninvited into Georgia Peaches’s postings. Just wanted to close the loop re all of our trials and tribulations. Bottom line - we are on the Mariner. Pulled away from the dock a few hours. Enjoying ourselves whereas 48 hours ago didn’t think it would happen. Have met some very nice people, including some CC watchers. Thanks to all who sent their encouraging words. I will now become another avid reader of this thread.
  3. Actually Refent contact us a couple of times. We were just first
  4. Wendy, as per my other note, still may meet up. Understand the “view” situation. That happened to us when we quarantined on our Baltic cruise. Are you able to get out and about?
  5. Word now is airport will open at midnight tonight. Hope so because we are sitting Atlanta waiting to fly to Lima
  6. I almost hate to say anything the way everything keeps changing. So, we sitting at home in SC at 11am, feeling sorry for ourselves. Decided to call Delta to ask if we were still booked on the second leg of our trip. They advised that they had rebooked our entire flight. Who knew?? Called Regent and found they are holding the ship. Contrary to what we were told last night. Luckily we had not unpacked. So yet another trip to the airport. We are now sitting in Atlanta waiting to depart at 11:45pm. Arrive Lima 6:20am (we hope). So we may see you yet. Drinks will be in order. For all that have sent well wishes, hope to see some of you tomorrow, others perhaps sometime in the future. Not getting too excited until we step onboard.
  7. Kind words Joanie. We will survive. Know you will enjoy your cruise. Look forward to following your adventures. Would love to share a cruise with you one of these days. Take care. Stay safe. Dave
  8. Thanks for that. Yes, timing is everything. With flights delayed/cancelled - just couldn't get there in time. Regent didn't have a good feeling about us being able to catch the ship in the next couple of ports. So - we are home and feeling a bit sorry for ourselves. This too will pass and we will be sailing again soon. Enjoy your time.
  9. Appreciate your response but I should have waited a while before posting. Turns out we will not make the cruise - through no real fault of Regent. Won't bore everyone with details just suffice it to say that a series of flight delays and cancellations - and then a plane crash at the Lima airport has prevented us from reaching the ship in time to embark. Few other options so we opted out. Wish us luck on the insurance claims on this one. Enough of a "downer" - wish all of you happy cruising. We will try again in February '23
  10. To hijack your post for a moment - wanted to comment on the pros/cons of using Regent for transfers, air, etc. After arising at 4am this morning to get to the airport for our flight to Lima and catch the Mariner - we found that our 7:22 am flight had been delayed. It continued to be delayed further and further until it reached the point that we would miss the ship's sailing. Called the airline and they were absolutely no help whatsoever. Was able to reach Regent's after hours number and they were great. Got us a flight on a different airline (with an overnight flight) and arrangements to meet us at the newly scheduled arrival. I believe this would have been a nightmare on our own. Everyone has their own story and preferences - this is mine. Enjoy sailing - will continue to follow your posts.
  11. Find it interesting that a launderette has to be "next door" before one chooses to use it. On a ship the size of those in the Regent fleet - it is not too exhausting to walk from one end to another or up/down a couple of decks. Guess I am still in the "glass half full" category of customers. BTW - the "included" laundry service is definitely a nice perk, and Regent does a good job with it.

  13. Just logged into my account and all looks well. Info is there.
  14. Thanks for your daily postings. Will miss hearing from you. I usually read your stories to DW. We will be heading out on our next Regent cruise in less than 3 weeks. Would love to hear what you chose with your "points". We like to do the same thing and have gotten some nice items. Stay safe.
  15. Our longest has been 34 days. For whatever reason, we don't seem to gain weight on the cruises. We have our wine each night and a drink or two during the day. Usually have breakfast every morning. Tried to be active. We don't pile our plates full - perhaps just lucky.
  16. Just an FYI - we have never stayed up to make reservations. We get on the computer in the morning when we awake and have never had a situation where excursions were not available. Likewise re dining - have found that if you are willing to share a table - early dining times are usually available.
  17. In July - quarantined for 5 days - 2 negative tests and we were "freed". Normal activities the last 5 days of the cruise. Understand the second thoughts on self reporting. We thought the same. Will have to say that the paxlovid was very effective - knock the virus out fairly quick.
  18. On our July trip - we were prescribed paxlovid. As jeb_bud stated - it was $800/pp. Have a claim in - nothing yet (backlogged !!!)
  19. On Splendor in July - had same thoughts on Pacific Rim. We thought the menu was a bit thin and the meals we did get were nothing to shout about. Had really looked forward to eating there so very disappointed.
  20. Similar situation when we quarantined for 5 days back in July. Terrible view - but great to have an "outdoor" place to relax. Missed what could have been some interesting ports but enjoyed the "perks" of being on Regent with the unlimited room service, etc. And we did get the upgraded internet - which really did not do much for us. Watched a lot of movies. Have to agree in part about not really having the trip interrupted - know that some to feel that way - again, lucky to have had good service - both professionally and medically - and thankful that we recovered. Heading back out on the Mariner in a few weeks. A closing note - travel insurance has helped a few times in the past - but totally understand the reluctance from some. Everyone stay safe!!
  21. Primarily the cost of the medication that was prescribed for us. I have seen where others claim "trip interruption" as well.
  22. Fully understand your covid experience. Both me and DW tested positive on our cruise in July. Seems we had the same view from the veranda. But like you, received great medical care - although still waiting for the travel insurance to step up.
