  1. I am an absolute control freak. Would never think of handing off control of my cruise to anyone. I book everything for DH and myself and have had great results.

Note: Two or three times I toyed with using a travel agent and the price and perks were no better than what I could get for myself and I maintained control of my cruise. And yes I stay on top of price drops for all aspects of our vacation. I have the time and don't view it has work. I look at it as saving money something I enjoy doing.

This is what works for me. There is no righ or wrong way of doing this. Just enjoy your vacation no matter who does the booking.

  2. In Nov/Dec of last year DH and I were on a b2b aboard the Epic. At the first port I purchased a soda. I put the half I did not drink in my bag and forgot about it. When we go back on the ship my bag went through the X-ray machine and all was well. Imagine my surprise when I found the soda in my bag when we got to our cabin.

At the next port I intentionally purchased a bottle of water and a Pepsi. You guessed it, my bag went through the X-ray machine and not a word. Needless to says I did the same thing at each port but with 2 bottles of water and 2 sodas at each port. No one ever said a word to me.

I am not sure why and I did not question why. I guess it just depends on who is manning the X-ray machine and we got lucky at each port.

  3. I usually make up my own first aid kit ( cough drops, over the counter cold meds for people with high blood pressure, over the counter pain reliever, something for insect bites, and a few other item). Will I need to declare these items even if they are over the counter. My husband takes a prescribed heart medication will we need to declare those. He also takes several herbal pills will they on need to be declared. Should all items be in original packaging and not in pill boxes. I usually put items in small plastic bags and label is that a no-no?

  4. I am a little confused. Are you guys talking about the "prepaid service charge" or "gratuity". There is a difference. How can a cruise line dictated a prepaid gratuity amount when that is paid after a service is provided and to individuals providing direct services. I thought gratuities were given above and beyond the service charge you pay.  I personally do not give out gratuities until after services have been provided. I only give gratuities to individuals who have provide direct service(s) to me.

The "service charge" is what is shared among everyone from the cabin stewards to those behind the scene. That is what you can prepay. I have never seen charges on my printout for "Gratuities".  I have seen charges for "Daily Service Charge".

I think you guys are talking apple and oranges. I think you are really mean to speak to prepaid service charges. There is no such thing as being billed for prepaid gratuity. The two are often intertwined and confused.

  5. Enough already with the baseball cap! I have seen much worst. If you don't believe me just spend a day by the pool. I dare you. The sights you see there are truly tacky, offensive, rude, show a lack of manners, and down right ugly. I will take a baseball cap over in a restaurant over those sights any day.

  6. I have seen much worst on a cruise ship. Wearing a cap or hat in a restaurant is certainly not something I would use to determine a person as being rude, offensive, classless and/or having no sense of etiquette. I would never prejudge a person based on something so trivial as wearing a cap or hat in a restaurant.

  7. I have been having this problem for a couple of months. Called NCL tech support and they didn't have a clue as to what was going on. Said the problem was on my end. It all started after some upgrading of system on their end. Note: I only have this problem on my IPad not on my laptop or desktop.

  8. We were on the Spirit for 20 days last year (b2b) and decided to use the free laundry service as platinum members. We were pleased with the results. Item were pressed. They were folded or hung on hangers. Nothing was faded. Nothing was shrunk. Together DH and I had four free bags. We have a back to back this year (21 days) and we plan to use the laundry service this time as well. It works for us and until it doesn't we plan to use our free service.

I would like to know: Was your bad experience with laundry service on NCL?

  9. Started keto diet 6/4/18. Lost 10lbs as of today. I have loss tons of inches as well. Had a plateau period which was very frustrating. However, once I got through that all has been well. I also go to the gym and walk 4 of 5 days which I was doing before I started keto. Weight did not start to shed until I changed my eating habits.

I look at my weight loss in small steps, what I call groups of 5's. I have 1lb to loss in the group. Once I reach this group of 5's I will start a new group of 5's. It is easier for me to take the big picture and break down into smaller pieces. It works for me.

    Good luck to all.
