  1. There’s plenty of free tables, just not enough staff. I can only presume they’d reallocate staff but someone with more knowledge will, no doubt, inform us.
  2. They haven’t got the staff. Simple as that. We eat in Tuscan every night on a Solstice ship whenever we can and have had trouble booking beforehand and on board. Keep trying and whenever you board, head to wherever you can book and try to get a reservation. Good luck!
  3. I’m with you guys. We work hard and love our drinks package. Some people might be shocked at what we get through but we’re never rude, loud or obnoxious but do occasionally sway en-route to Beddington. We’ve sat in many bars in the Caribbean and been thankful we’re not on a Carnival cruise because they, in our opinion, might not be drunk or rude but they’re extremely loud and not really our type. Everything evolves. If Celebrity isn’t what it once was then try another cruise line. We’d never dream of going on a Carnival cruise but are trying Cunard in November. Maybe our fellow guests will be looking down their noses at us when we have our champagne breakfast with a sneaky G&T mid morning too and will probably be muttering about these Celebrity passengers daring to cruise with Cunard! Cheers x
  4. What a lovely message. She wasn’t just Queen of the United Kingdom but some say she was Queen of the World. Although she had an amazing life I wouldn’t have wanted it. Duty before self. A characteristic seldom seem nowadays.
  5. With the bidding for upgrade system you’ll find that the Retreat is often full. It didn’t spoil it for us on the Edge but we reverted to using the large hot tub on the regular deck as there were less people there!
  6. Well there certainly was no difference in the room service menu on the Silhouette. I forgot to mention the afternoon snacks. We ate four olives. Again, we’re Celebrity fans but won’t do CC again.
  7. Forget the negative comments. Just Do It! Bragging rights with your friends, nice invitations when you get to your cabin and an immense feeling of superiority over everyone else. One day you might even become Zenith and you can wax lyrical about how you’re entitled to everything and how much better it used to be! If you’re anything like us your mind’s already made up. See you for brekkie in Tuscan soon.
  8. I’ve just done a Concierge Class cruise on Silhouette and didn’t think it was worth it. The lunch on boarding was nice but not essential. The ‘concierge’ was uncontactable. The shower head was the same as a regular cabin. The toiletries were the same. The robes were the same. The room service menu was the same. We had gold key cards and will hopefully get extra CC points. We got binoculars, an umbrella and a slightly larger balcony but that’s about it. So in my view it’s not worth it. It hasn’t put us off Celebrity though. Do others feel the same?
  9. The few times I have been lucky enough to be in a suite the Retreat was too busy because all the suites were full. I mentioned this on another thread that some airlines have bars on board. I’d be pretty hacked off if I was in first class and a coach/economy frequent flyer assumed they had equal rights to sit at the bar, which they do not. Therefore you pay for what you get. If you’re not happy then try another cruise line. Times, and customer loyalty packages change. We’re off to try Cunard Queens Grill soon! No impressive loyalty package there.
  10. Enjoyed reading the posts after mine, thank you! Don’t worry for us not going with Celebrity again…. we love it, just felt sorry for the staff. We’ve been on 4 nighters before and always prefer to eat in Tuscan even if we’re in Luminae (but that’s our preference and has been debated elsewhere). It was just on this specific cruise the fellow passengers were……..well they were not the ‘normal’ Celebrity customers. We even witnessed an aggressive yob berating and shouting at a lovely Indian crew member for not looking at him in the eyes when he spoke to him. There are indeed less staff and one crew member we spoke to said that they are struggling to recruit new people. There’s even two English waiting crew serving on the Silhouette!!! Needless to say, in the bars there appeared to be the same amount of staff, it was just that our fellow guests lacked manners and pushed in leaving the more polite guests to wait. Being perfectly honest, and I may get a bit of stick for this, but I cruised once just before Covid with P&O and swore never to go back. Vests, tattoos, lack of respect, high expectations, beer bellies, loud, cheap and that’s just the women ha ha ha! Seriously though, it appears that quite a few P&O passengers have seen the value in the drinks package with Celebrity and realise they need to move cruise lines and some, unfortunately, already have!
  11. I have just come off a 4 night trip on Silhouette from Southampton and was shocked by the behaviour of some fellow passengers. They were rude to staff, drunk, loud and we found ourselves apologising to staff for their behaviour. Normally, if there’s a few people at the bar, you sort of let the people who were there first be served before you. Not on this cruise. Loud mouths pushing in with no respect for their fellow guests. It seemed as if the majority were first time cruisers who got this at a cheap price and the ship was also full. The staff were amazing and we love Celebrity. If any staff read this then thank you.
  12. WestonOne. We’re on QV for a short cruise in November in QG but would have loved to have sailed on the QE2 and indeed the original Queen Mary which we have visited many times. Shirred eggs are even on a menu from 1900 (not 7pm but the year)! Can you elaborate on the shirred eggs please? We would love to try them and keep the tradition alive. Thank you
  13. Yes to Uber. Used them in NY, Miami and LAX. It’s the only option for me.
  14. Keep checking their website. I managed to move from Princess Grill to Queens Grill on Saturday morning at 9am having seen one cabin become available on Friday night. Paid for it though! Lol
  15. Can this be done before or after we debark? Shouldn’t this be ‘disembark?’ England and America are two great countries separated by a common language!
  16. Book early to avoid disappointment! Once they’re full, they’re full.
  17. Very amusing thread and really enjoying it! What about the significance of magnetic pineapples on the cabin door?
  18. As opposed to other major cruise lines which have no app whatsoever.

    Extra O.B.C.

They’d have to give me quite a lot of OBC to set foot on an P&O ship again! In fact I’d pay them not to go. Anyhoo, we got the $60 OBC email yesterday. Thank you Cunard.
  20. I’ve got two topical questions for the quiz: Do people who post answers to the quiz on Cruise Critic realise that they are spoiling it for the rest of us? True or False. Are those who are using these answers and not bothering to even make a little effort cheats? Yes or No. X
  21. Here’s hoping the doctor who operates on you or a close family member hasn’t been gifted the answers of a past paper by a previous student!
  22. Why do you feel the need to post the answers? Cheating helps no one and I may be in the minority but to see fellow readers giving this a thumbs up is actually quite depressing. No doubt I’ll be ridiculed for posting but at least I’m not a cheat.

    Why Cunard

That is something which none of us will ever be able to experience and can only dream of how exciting it must have been.

    Why Cunard

Thank you all for your comments and reviews. Lots of good stuff here and we’re very excited. PS Loved the P&O and Butlins comment. My kids love both but not somewhere I’d rush to without them!
