  1. We’re on the Sky Princess charter in April. Tried to get a bigger mini suite balcony a few weeks ago (didn’t realise how small they are) but was told there were only 2 suites left. Called on the off chance there may be a bigger one last week and there were two! You must always try, even when you sail. With so many people on board statically someone will have a reason not to travel.
  2. Is there only one Apex cruise to the fjords this year?
  3. Best thing you can do with ducks is set them free…… over the side! Quack, quack, bye bye!
  4. Best thing you can do with ducks is set them free…., over the side of the ship! Quack
  5. Allow others to comment please as this is a massive thread drift. You’ve made your point.
  6. Each to their own but on one cruise we ate in Tuscan every night as we didn’t like Luminae during first day’s lunch and dinner! As others have said, is has a relaxed atmosphere, amazing views and staff who are just awesome. But on the Silhouette they always are. Its our favourite ship!
  7. 😜 As you’re from Yorkshire nowhere else comes close I suppose! lol
  8. The world cruise not good enough then? 😄
  9. Seems that most of us here with kids are very similar. Mine, 13 & 11 have done many cruises with Celebrity and love it. They get their own area, have attentive staff looking after them and make friends. They are still in contact with some of them. On our last trip, for example, they were put into groups and told to walk around the ship finding out how many languages they could get to say Good Morning. They loved it, as did the international crew and not a water slide in sight. Let the loud, easily distracted ones go to Carnival or RC. Celebrity is definitely our favourite.
  10. Agreed and I’ve seen that behaviour with some young entitled yobs on a few shorter cruises. The ones who I wouldn’t class as cowards are the older ones who really think they are above everyone, passengers and crew alike.
  11. It’s not just on board. There are a few culprits on here as well. There was even someone last year who complained that her ice cream melted too quickly!! I kid you not!
  12. And all ages. Unfortunately we’ve seen young, drunk ones on short cruises and elderly entitled ones thinking they’re better than everyone else. Elite+, Zenith, Royal, Platinum doesn’t impress me. Manners do.
  13. Ha ha ha! I’ve just seen your username. Hilarious 😆
  14. You’ll find the Cape of Good Hope weather in their Autumn quite moderate. Whilst I’m not a weather forecaster I have spent a lot of time in Southern Africa and it’s a pleasant time of year. Even further south, but not far, is Cape Agulhas and it’s still nice. There’s more chance of the QM2 being in worse weather in the Bay of Biscay. Needless to say, she’s built for it. The one place I wouldn’t trust in April is Cape Horn off South America!
  15. Whilst I sympathise with a lot of the above, rather than be negative, take the opportunity to have time in Cape Town which was voted the World’s Best City recently! The Suez Canal is on my bucket list but the opportunity to cruise round the most southern tip of Africa is an opportunity not to be missed. The wine region, especially Franschhoek is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever had the privilege of visiting. Much better than Dubai and much less expensive as well! A few years ago, during covid, I’d have given a vital organ to go on a cruise. Occasionally we need to make the best out of bad situations. It’s also worth checking your travel insurance. Missed ports often get a payout.
  16. These things happen and it’s unfortunate but not Cunard’s fault. Have you considered flying from Cape Town to Dubai and getting your original flight home? I’m not sure of the exact dates of your stop in Dubai but a flight on 12th April from CPT to DXB is £354 and there are two flights per day. Call Emirates and see what they say with your original booking details. It’s worth a try!
  17. This has got to be one of the funniest posts I have read! Hilarious!!
  18. My kids have adored every celebrity cruise they have ever done. No need for slides and gimmicks. They have adult practitioners who enjoy spending time with them and allow them to learn and interact with others. If your kids are less well behaved and easily distracted then perhaps Royal but we prefer a more engaging approach. They have made many friends and are still in touch with some of them. Your kids will have a ball!
  19. One more question please. Is there any difference between the two main dining rooms?
  20. Ty Thank you as well. Your comments are very sensible and taken on board. As it’s a longer cruise we may even do the buffet and have real chill out day.
  21. Great post and thank you. We’re on this ship in April and are v excited as our ‘normal’ cruise line is Celebrity but thought we’d give Princess a go from Southampton as they’ve taken our favourite ship elsewhere and given us a newer model.😢 Couple of questions if I may? Dinner. Celebrity’s main dining is ok but our main cruise indulgence is speciality dining and would rather have a lesser cabin if it meant we could eat well throughout. Would you be content with main dining every night? Does it feel special or would you do speciality for the duration of the cruise? Also, is there a difference between Cielo and Estrella dining rooms? Did you have a drink package? I’m early 50’s, she’s mid 40’s and we do enjoy a small libation throughout the day from a glass of bubbles with breakfast to a nice cognac in the early hours. Thanks again! PS. Your first pic where people are swimming next to the ship is awesome!!!!
  22. Capt George is our favourite. Charming man, humble, quietly spoken and doesn’t try to hog the limelight. The staff and passengers love him. Very photogenic too darn it!
  23. We were in an aft suite just over a year ago and there was the most awful smell in the corridor. The same smell was in different areas around the ship and near the hot tubs was just revolving. Some shabby walls in the corridors too made it not much better than a North Sea ferry tbh! Actually, any ferries I’ve been on are in better condition.
  24. When you post on one of these groups it’s best to check facts before submitting. His name was Stubing and not Stubbing. And whilst we’re on this subject why do we debark and not disembark? Are some of us quiet dogs? In the words of Winston Churchill, “British and Americans are one people separated by a common language”.
