  1. I just cruised on the Sunshine from Jan 29 to Feb 3.

There are Friends of Bill W (AA) and Friends of Jimmy K (NA) meetings throughout the week. However, at least on the Sunshine, their choice of venue leaves a lot to be desired. They were held in the Library Bar, and while it was pointed out to me by John Heald that it's no longer a full service bar, it has a bar with wine glasses and a Pour Your Own Wine station. I certainly think they could find a space onboard that would allow for a meeting without the temptation (and insult) of alcohol being flung in the faces of the people who are just trying to stay sober one day at a time.

    Yeah that sounds phenomenally inappropriate

  2. AussieOmni - I was wondering about the Chef's Table for veg heads! What's the process for getting a veg meal for that event?

They have an Indian vegetarian dinner in the dining room every night - it's supposed to change nightly, but I'm not sure it does on every ship. The ones I've had have always been vegan, but they may have paneer sometimes. Not sure.

I find the dining room to be pretty accommodating if you talk to them about the next night's dinner at the previous one. You can special order all kinds of things, you just have to discuss it. Believe it or not, I've also found the steakhouse to be very accommodating. My husband loves his filet, so we go there. I tell them I'm a vegetarian and usually the chef comes out and we talk about what I'd like to eat. Had some wonderful meals there. When I make my reservations, I always tell them I'm a vegetarian and I remind them when they're seating us.

We contacted Carnival before hand and the MD. We got a call from the steakhouse early in the cruise confirming they were vegan and they took care of it when I get all my photos ready I'll do a separate thread on Chef's Table vegan.

I see lots talking about Indian. Usually there's Rains which isn't vegan and having our as the ONLY vegan option most nights is not cool, we found Lido better.

Echo the Hampton Creek suggestion, we spent much of the cruise thinking we should have. Also the Bagels are vegan so we brought our own cream cheese and for pizza some vegan pepperoni.

  3. I am a Vegan cruiser. If going on a ship with American Table I'd skip MDR most nights. Guys has a vegan veggie burger, skip the meat at Mongolian and burritos and they're vegan. We also did the chefs table last week and it was amazing.

Hoping I have time to post a full review tonight

  4. And CC'ers. Any thread on Cruise Critic which involves veganism invariably and quickly is filled with posts from people who seem to have a compelling need to rant against and mock vegans and the vegan diet. You have to especially shake your head at those whose sole contribution to a thread inquiring about vegan options is to proudly declare themselves 'meatarians' (along with, of course, telling everyone that they think people who follow a plant based diet are crazy).

Yep. I want to help fellow vegans but fear it gets lost in the crowd of complaining about a choice we made

  5. Just got back from the freedom. The MDR was rubbish unless you want Indian all bar one night. That said Lido was good and we were never hungry. We did chefs table which they made vegan and it was amazing and I will have a full review up

  6. I may have missed it, but has anyone suggested that the OP take in a game of cricket while here? And a good way of filling in a day or five.

It's quite a simple game and easy to follow keeping in mind the following simplified explanation of how it is played.

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

March so maybe a bit late

  7. I feel the same way! I am a tipper, but had not realized that I should be tipping an Uber like I do a taxi!

I am grateful to the OP for bringing this topic to light!!

And it is nice to know you can add tip to Lyft. I know many drivers are both Lyft and Uber drivers.

I agree, the tip issue should be more clear and Uber should share that detail better.

Uber are responsible for this. Lyft manage it so that Uber don't is silly

  8. Again, it's foggy, no demand from us which was my point.

No demand from you = no demand from everyone?

I live in TX so Galveston makes sense I've not found FL any cheaper, especially when you factor in the cost of flights. They have no issues filling them so why would they lower prices?
