  1. Okay...I have another question regarding ETAs....This one is more urgent as I leave for Europe in about a month. I am a US citizen. Our flight back from Rome to Orlando, FL is through Toronto, Canada.......Do I need to have a travel authorization to travel from Rome to Toronto?? This is all new to me and the Canadian site regarding visas just is not clear to me.
  2. Sounds good to me! I just need to know what to do and what to pay so that I can enjoy Europe again. I'll keep my eyes open for updates. I'm not on the NCL general Cruise Critic board all that much...I stick mostly on the Roll Calls
  3. Thank you all for this information. It is something I'll definitely be keeping my eye on for our 2024 trip. I've never even heard of the US requirement for an ESTA! Like I said, I only came upon this while reading about something else...and it makes me unsettled that I don't even know what I don't know!!
  4. I just accidently came upon this information about ETIAS, a travel authorization which will be necessary to travel to Europe in 2024. I have not seen this mentioned anywhere on NCL. Does anyone know if this will be necessary for anyone cruising in 2024? In the year 2024, citizens from the United States of America will be required to complete an ETIAS application prior to boarding an aircraft, sea carrier, or coach vehicle for Europe, and this includes travellers who will only be transiting in Europe en route to other destinations.
  5. Thanks for all of the replies! I'm packing our neoprene wine totes as they are padded and pack flat. We'll buy our wine in Civitavecchia after sampling several glasses prior to the cruise!
  6. My husband & I plan to bring two bottles of wine each in our carry-ons when we embark in Rome for our Sept. cruise to the Greek Isles & some ports in Italy. Earlier this summer there were threads on CC with posts about bar service not being available when in Greek ports, and we want to enjoy our wine on the balcony or at dinner before we depart each stop. We have the drink package so no worries about corkage fees. Just want to know if 2 bottles of wine each being brought onboard at embarkation is ok with NCL.
  7. I read this thread all of the time and have learned so much. I'll most likely never make it to the Haven, but I do book regular suites when they are available on the Jewel class ships. I'll truly miss all of the suite niceties on our September cruise when we are in a club balcony suite on the Breakaway. We booked for the itinerary and not the room...Most of all, I'll miss the almond croissants, unless one of you can let me in on secrets to get them smuggled out of the Haven!! Please keep posting all of the experiences as I find this to be the best thread...and maybe some day I'll win a bid!
  8. I just tried to Log in and got a 403- Forbidden Error The page says "Looks Like This Page Took a Permanent Vacation"......
  9. Talked to my PCC this morning and I would be penalized too much BOGO airfare-wise if I upgraded. I'll wait for the bidding process to play out (I have never had good luck with this) and see what happens. Things could certainly be worse than staying in our balcony room! Thanks for the responses.
  10. That is what I am afraid of...if I can't keep the current BOGO rate that I have, then I won't be upgrading the stateroom via purchase
  11. We are past final payment and an invitation to bid for an upgrade has been sent out. I would really like to pay for a room upgrade rather than bid, which I have done in the past. This cruise is different for us though as it involves BOGO airfare. If I win a bid (highly unlikely) I think the BOGO offer remains the same as it is now, but what if I buy a stateroom upgrade from a balcony to a club balcony? Does the BOGO airfare amount stay the same, or will it be changed to today's going rate? Our current BOGO offer is $850 RT for two to Europe which is an offer I do not want to have changed. Has anyone done a stateroom upgrade and not had the BOGO amount changed? Thanks in advance for your input............
  12. General question on the bidding process. It states that bids are processed between 14 days to 1 day before the cruise. Is this always the case or can you get win a bid prior to the 2 weeks out?
  13. I've enjoyed this post very much as we'll be on a similar trip in Sept. Do you remember if there was a "Dress Up or Not" evening on the ship? I looked through the dailies and didn't see it mentioned.
  14. Glad to read that many people seem to have done okay with the NCL BOGO air. We are going to be doing BOGO air for the first time in Sept. We have a deviation of 2 days booked for both ends of the trip, which is R/T Orlando to Rome. Our cruise is scheduled to depart 9/23 from Rome and return to Rome on 10/3. If the cruise begins 9/23, should hotels be booked for the nights of 9/21 & 9/22? An overnight flight from Orlando late on the 20th would be ideal, but I am not counting on it. On the way back, is it safe to assume that my hotel plans for the night of the 3rd & 4th are ok and that we'd be flying back to Orlando sometime on the 5th? I have hotels in Rome booked but it would be helpful if someone with experience with NCL doing air arrangements could share their experience, especially with the deviations.....I understand that this is all best guess at this point. I'm all set with transfers, etc. in Rome, but because we are a bit of a distance from Orlando, I still have to find a hotel and parking on this end..... Thanks for your help!
  15. I booked a cruise last year and have not changed anythng on the reservation other than to buy a couple of extra meals, pay for excursions, and make payments. All was good until I received a new cruise confirmation statement a few days ago due to an itinerary change. I have since gone to the website and app, and both are the same as the email confirmation. The majority of add-on items that were included in the original booking are nowhere to be found! No meal package, no drink package, no onboard credit, etc. The meal and beverage gratuity charges seem to have been removed also. I have an email into my PCC who doesn't work weekends & I'm sure he'll look into this....Has anyone else experienced a problem like this lately? This drop off seems to have occurred during the month of January
  16. We just got the email today that Corfu has been replaced by Olympia (Katakolon) for our Sept 23 cruise on the Breakaway
  17. OMG....I am laughing so hard! On our cruise my permed hair was so soft and conditioned the whole cruise. It's never behaved this nicely on a cruise. The last day when I was taking items out of the shower and when I had my glasses on, I took note of the fact that I had used body wash on my hair for two weeks! The shampoo didn't hurt my other body parts either!
  18. We saw monkeys from the Sugarcane Train. They were raiding a local farmer's garden on the hill side by the volcano. The only other monkeys we saw were in town for the photo ops.......beware of the little trained pick pockets!
  19. I just booked this category SM penthouse suite on the Jade. The description says it comes with concierge and butler services. It is an aft balcony penthouse suite, but is not part of The Haven. If anyone else who has booked such a stateroom on the Jade can answer my questions, I'd be very appreciative. My PCC was as helpful as he could be but was unable to give me specifics. I just like to know what to expect as this will be a first for us. Thanks in advance for your help. Are breakfast at Moderno & lunch at Cagney's included with non-Haven suites? I don't think there is an actual Haven restaurant. Is priority access included (embarkation, tendering, debarkation)? Does this room have an upgraded coffee pot? (Nespresso) Is Haven access included? Not important but curious to know.......... Anything else that I should prepare myself for?? If you have links to other forums on this subject, that would be helpful
  20. Following as I paid $175 for the social media package for my upcoming cruise...and now I don't see it mentioned anywhere.........
  21. Thank you...I don't know how that happened & contacted the admins as soon as I saw it...I asked for it to be deleted.
  22. Thank you! I know that we got a Latitudes discount but wasn't paying close enough attention to when I checked out. In the past it had been added to our account & I ended up buying stuff on the ship....I guess I won't have that problem now! Thanks again
  23. We are going on a 2 week cruise with 9 excursions. The promo from NCL that we have is $50 back per stateroom per excursion taken. For us, that will mean $450 back onto our account. My question is, what happens to this money if we don't spend it on board? Will it be refunded to the card on record or lost? Ideally, we'd like to apply the money to a future cruise we have on the books. It's been 3 years since our last cruise and I just don't remember!
  24. My husband & I each have our own color packing cubes. There're shelves on the Dawn, but I don't remember any drawers (balcony stateroom)...the shelves are small & the packing cubes keep everything organized...it also keeps us out of each others things when searching for something.
