  1. We have done High Tea at Lord Nelson twice, once with Regent and once when we stayed at the hotel. Agree it is wonderful not to missed experience. Great you were able to see Table Mt with out its cloth. That is a really nice sail both in and away. Enjoyed you reporting, that is a really interesting itinerary. Thanks!
  2. We are having lunch in Prime7. After everyone finally got buckled in and the buggies started we headed off to a dirt road the lead us to Mt behind town. There we stopped for a few minutes at someones “farm” for a drink and then headed back down to beach and the mud bath being……with stops for the film crew to set up as we plowed though the road turned river. There had been a heavy rain the day before. The beach was small but pretty, it wasn’t a swim stop though. It was a great great tour and the film crew made it even more fun.
  3. We rocked and rolled all night. But it made for good sleeping which I needed. as for yesterday….we had great fun on the buggies and beach ride. With two to a buggy, Dick go to drive the whole couple of hours. We were buckled in like we were sitting in a baby car seat and had a helmet of course. There were only 4 of us on the ride but as we are all incased in the buggy Annabelle and another ship entertainer show up with the film crew. About 15 minutes later and three more buggies we are off. To be continued Dick wants lunch!
  4. Here you goThe trim is around the whole door. Can’t really tell if it is metal, sounds kind of like plastic. There is a slots beside the door that I am going to hang a Santa face later. I forgot to bring my magnets. I read that the really strong ones work in places. There is a wall covering that evidently prevents the Smaller ones from working.
  5. I will tell you what I found out at the front desk. Electric kettles are not allowed. They will be collected at x-ray when boarding. The Lilly doesn’t make tea! They suggested you tell your room Stewart what time you would like a.big pot of hot water delivered everyday. I am assuming they were thinking afternoon tea time. Said that way you would not have to wait to fix tea after getting back from a tour. Of course you can just order hot tea anytime from room service. So far for us it has been fast. I am exhausted and to sleepy to type. We had a great tour this afternoon, but will have to wait until tomorrow to tell everything that went on today. Hint the film crew went on our tour and it was just us and another couple!
  6. We are in Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic today. After a very bouncy ride yesterday afternoon and last night it is nice to be still! Sunny and warm, nice day for a tour. We are doing the Buggies and Beach off-road at 1:45. need to meet in the parking lot which is a good walk for me at least. the tour office says to allow 15 minutes! Fortunately, they have tut-tuts for the walking challenged, this includes me. We have not been to the Dominican Republic in our 40 years of cruising. in fact, most of the islands we are visiting on these three cruises are new to us! We have visited all 7 continents and gone around the world three times, but the Caribbean was reserved for diving trips to Cozumel, Cayman and USVI in our younger days. So much boring history about us. DR was named by Christopher Columbus. The town looks small and compact no vert touristy between the sea and a mountain. I can see an interesting looking old church spires from the ship. It looks very walkable. There is a shore side area between dock and old town that looks very nice. Dick just came back from checking on the tut-tuts and said the elfs are decorating the main lobby area. This is what I have been waiting for. I will report on the tour and our time at Pacific Rim later.
  7. Now I am curious....next time I am by the desk will ask if electric kettles are available. On the world cruise I brought a large thermos and had room service bring me a large pot of hot water and transferred that to my thermos. I like hot tea at night after DH has gone to sleep. Let you know.
  8. No not in our level of room. Room service is fast with a pot of hot water… l like tea late at night. Haven’t asked at the desk for one though.
  9. Found this in yesterdays program….at 6-6:45
  10. Nothing so far only Resident pianist Gino de Luca.
  11. For those interested in this kind of stuff I thought the craft was fun and easy. Annabelle is really cute and fun to be around. She does the need point in the afternoons also.
  12. We had a great dinner last night in Chartreuse. The lamb chops were wonderful. Service was spot on. Dick went to the coffee connection and I had room service. The food came hot. On time as ordered. Already talked about our morning. It is nap time now. Dealing with Miami yesterday was exhausting so we are in need of a nap! The sea is moving enough to rock us to sleep!!! We have Pacific Rim on the schedule for tonight so we need to be at the top of our game! The ship seems very full and we ran in to some people who were feeling no pain last night on a crowded elevator…..unusual in our 200+ days on Regent. But it is Holiday time in the Caribbean. GP, the film crew is on for the whole cruise I heard this morning and they should decorate the tonight or tomorrow night. Sail away, lamb chops and Observation Lounge this morning at card making.
  13. There are two shallow drawers in the middle, but four nice sized drawers on the right… where I have my make up and hair stuff. One small top drawer in each night stand and 5 nice deep drawers in walk-in closet. We are only using three of those. Really loving the balcony. It is sunny, water is blue and we are sailing along with two other cruise ships. The ship is shading the balcony right now.
  14. Here is todays program and I don’t see any formal bridge on the schedule. I went the craft card making and it was well attended. Dick went to the speaker who he said was terrible…. Read everything off the computer in a monotone. He said you have to really work at making pirates of the Caribbean boring! Though Regent has had good speakers on our cruises this one is a miss.
  15. Finally go my phone working with the ships internet. We won’t travel without Jack and George or let’s say they wouldn’t let us. The cabin attendants have had fun with them over the years!
  16. My experience on the Navigator for 130+ days….the ship is delightfully small and is pretty quite late night. It is our favorite ship. We are on the Splendor now and it is a little big for our taste. But others may have more information on after dinner activities. We are not night owls. As for tours, there are all levels from simple bus tours to scuba diving if available like at our stop in Aruba. There is also a chance to do a ATV trip ( you do the driving, we are doing that) on our current cruise. I have seen sail zip lining and kayaking in many ports.
  17. We got in our suites about 2. We have an aft facing G. Many co plain that whose are too small but we love the aft view and can’t swing the named suite price tag. First blush the suite is beautiful….lots of molding and rich looking fabric. Of course this is the newest ship we have ever sailed on so that helps. First off I like the long desk it provides a lot of surface place. Small coffee table is plus as we usually ask for that to be removed. The walk-in closet is big enough for us and the bath is very pretty and easy for me as I need mobility aids. as for the balcony I can see the water from the bed and the living area chair and sofa The balcony has a small over hang so not enough to send time just sitting for us but we like to go out at sail away and see the big picture. There is a solid rail along the bottom of the balcony but that isn’t really a problem for us as we can still see the water when sitting. When using the balcony we are either standing watching the world go by or I am reading or sleeping mostly the latter! Some suite pictures.
  18. We try to have everything running like clock work for you by then.
  19. Well I will try to pick up where Georgia Peach left off. Be forewarned I am not as good a writer as GP! So others on the ship feel free to contribute! After a tour of the Miami Bario for over an hour in Fri afternoon traffic we finally fingered out we had entered the wrong address in the GPS for our Hotel. Problem solved and 45 mins later we are home for the night. We had an early dinner at Texas de Brazil, not wonderful but close by, fun and filling. It is a long long drive from Texas! It took nearly two hours to get the rental car turned in today and get to the ship! The Art Festival is this weekend and the hotels, taxis and streets are a mess. Once we got to the ship, we were boarded in 15 minutes. On Board about 12:20 sitting in the Coffee Connection watching the guess parade by as they head up to the LaVeranda for lunch. We decided to just stop at the bar.have a snack and a drink and wait for our room to be ready in another hour. We have early reservations at Chartreuse so don’t want to be tempted with a buffet and then spoil our dinner! No the decorations yet, but maybe some by tomorrow or the next day. I am excited explore the ship and see it decked out for the Holidays!
  20. We sailed to Antarctica in 2007 on a 100 passenger expedition ship and had the Darke shake going down. For 18 hours we made an arc of 60% side to side. We had water above our porthole on the top deck 5. The lower two decks had dead lights on the portholes…. Boarded up. And waves up to the bridge. We could go to the bridge if we had enough nerve! The beds were bolted to the floor, one in our cabin came loose. It was a wild ride. Captain changed course to get us in the lea of Elphant Is to get some relief from the sea and so we could eat a regular meal. But coming back we had a glassy lake. Went back on the Regent Mariner in 2011 and had the Drake Lake both ways! That time we had snow,.woke up to the decks covered with the white stuff. Sailing those water is an adventure! Another ship had a problem a few years after our last trip.
  21. That is the same excuse used every time! I’m not a citizen of x country, so it doesn’t apply to me. Good grief….. On a happier note, your post have been most enjoyable. Made even more so since we will board the Splendor for the first time Sat! Not our first Regent cruise just the first on one of the newest ships! Thanks for taking time to post!
  22. You said it better than I did!!!! The visa does control the crew activities. People forget that they are not in the US driving themselves on their own schedule or in where ever their home country is.
  23. We have gone though this arrival at a US possession just before the actual disembarkation at s US mainland port. The port has control and it can be a cluster …k!!! The worst is there is someone or several who think these rules don’t apply to them always!!! The crew usually goes off first since if there is a visa problem with a crew member, the passengers aren’t stranded in the port hall. Happened years ago on an HAL ship. I have problems with walking and usually need a wheelchair in this situation. Regent staff can’t go ashore with passengers. The port staff have to take care of the situation. That doesn’t always work to well. We generally wait to be the last group called the help with getting help. I would suggest always taking a tour or at least planning something on your own when faced with this port situation, also when doing back to backs. The ship has to be cleared before boarding can begin for the next cruise.
  24. Each ship’s department sets up a country fair type game booth around the pool deck. Loads of fun for passengers and the crew seem to enjoy it also. You can dine in the specialty restaurant as many times as you can get reservations. Evening dress code is nice casual (no jeans or shorts) every night including formal optional nights if any. Check Regent website for exact statement of dress code.
  25. Thanks for the info. We have never been able to get the suite on any cruise ship as cold as we like at night… Regent ir otherwise. Painters tape will be added!
