We are also coming for this cruise! We have a place booked in the cocoa beach area currently, but we’re thinking of getting a hotel instead to have better shelter. Any suggestions? I also want to make sure our vehicle is safe from flood waters
When you park you car for the cruise don't park on ground level. This storm will have passed, but if there is another one, you don't want your car to be flooded.

I would go on the main land.

I have no idea what the right side of the storm will be like. The port is now in the cone. Part of the causeway is about three feet above the water. The island is a very low Elevation. Just so you know.
I use to live down the road (about 28 miles down A1A) from there.

I'm a Canadian watching the National News. Lots of destruction over 4 provinces. They say 95% of Prince Edward Island is without power. At least 300,000 homes in Nova Scotia without power. Century old trees uprooted. Homes swept out to sea because of the storm surges. One woman in one of those homes still not found. 😔
Very sorry to hear of this. Wishing you and your country well and a fast recovery. I pray that no more life will be lost.

We sail this week. sat Oct 1 on Celebrity Infinity. I’m not so concerned about the sailing. They’ll go where the weather isn’t.
MY CONCERN IS GETTING THERE AND THE FLIGHT FROM BALTIMORE. We’re scheduled to fly Friday at 630am. Gets us to FLL at 9am. In theory, Ian has made landfall and is is exiting Florida into southern Georgia. IN THEORY. Should we leave Thursday instead? Don’t want to wait until Saturday.
Anyone with commercial pilot experience have thoughts ???
It is not only where you are going to and from, but where the plane is coming in from before your flight.
you flight may never make it to your home airport to pick you up. how far are you from the port?

Let hope that Ian does not intensify. The storm is large and just not a dot on the map. The outer bands can be very dangerous. There can be tornados in them. So, you can be not close to the eye but still get lots of damage.

A little relief: Forecast to drop from Cat 4 to Cat 2 by Florida landfall.
Lets hope it keeps dropping. cat 2 is better than a cat 4. But it still will do much damage.

If it is a cotton t-shirt, I use the highest temp and iron over the autograph, not as helpful with polyester, but ironing over the autograph at highest setting for the fabric will set it in...that is why if you have a stained piece of clothing you try to get a stain out of- you do not put it in the dryer as the heat might set the stain....air dry and see if stain is gone...if not re-treat....
Bernadette
Thank you. I did not know that .

Just off the Enchanted. Thursday the Commodore said that there had been an increase in the number of people with covid. The night before we got off, I was paying in the casino. A woman said something and it was obvious that her roommate was in the cabin with covid. She wasn't even wearing a mask.
Spoke to guest services. "We are just following CDC guidelines. If she tests negative every day, that is all that we can do. "
So much for concern and protecting your passengers
Did you move away from her? I would have left skid marks on the carpet getting away from her.

Not just the toilets.
Last night was formal night. We came back after dinner to change and I saw water spot on the rug near the closet area. Our steward was outside, so I told him and he said he would get maintenance We changed our clothes and went out, came back two hours later and we had two maintenance men in the hallway with the panel in the ceiling open. We had two buckets in the cabin and wet carpet in front of the bed and along the slider- told that the spa on deck 16 was sloshing the water all over due to the weather and it was coming down the walls. Don't know how many other cabins has the same problem.
I went to the pool area and got 6 beach towels and we used that to soak up some of the damp carpet. They said we could get another room for the night, but we didn't want the hassle.
We are now in Bar Harbor, we have laid down dry towels and if the problem was as they say, it should dry out.
Will find out more later - not sure deck 15 is the best deck to have our cabin.
For me, I would let them give me another cabin.

No, they aren't transferable. They were issued in April for a May cruise that was canceled by HAL. They were set to expire by the end of this year but I found out today they have been extended until the end of 2023. I still doubt we will use them.
Mine we extended too.

I think that you would be fine. Most people had a travel day the first day and are not unpacked. If you feel like you want a change of clothing, take something in your carry-on bag.
When we have to fly to a cruise, I do that so I can take a shower and get off my travel clothing.

Did you cancel while on board?

Thank you! Yep, it kind of ended with a bang about a month ago when urgent care sent me to the ER with a VERY high fever, hacking cough and severe headache, and the doc there prescribed yet another drug cocktail that finally worked, seemingly for good.
IT is NOT just like the flu to everyone.
It looks like G is cruising again in October…alone. I am unwilling to go through all that again.
Very sorry to hear that you were so sick with covid. I don't blame you for not wanting to cruise in Oct. And you are correct, it is not just like the flu for everyone. Over the course of the pandemic we have had so many family members catch covid. Sadly one did not make it through.

You made a personal decision for your own comfort level based on knowing what to expect traveling and your personal risk tolerance. Much better than going and expecting everyone to be acting like it's 2020.
Thank you. Reading Cruise Critic gave me some of the info that I needed to make this personal decision. I will some day cruise again, but I can't say when.
